Let’s Talk About FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad
The FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad might seem like a small, insignificant piece of polymer, but it’s a game-changer for anyone who owns an FN FNS-9C or FNS-40C. As someone who has spent over a decade in the tactical gear world, I know that sometimes the smallest additions can make the biggest difference in performance and comfort. I’ve always been a fan of the FN FNS series for its reliability and accuracy, but the compact models, while easily concealable, sometimes felt a little short in the grip for my larger hands.
This led me to seek out a grip extension to provide a more secure and comfortable hold. I was looking for something that wouldn’t compromise the concealability of the pistol but would offer a more substantial gripping surface. The FN America grip extension seemed like the perfect solution, promising to add just enough length for a full-fingered grip.
Upon unboxing, the FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad felt solid and well-made. The polymer matched the finish of my FNS-9C almost perfectly. It added negligible weight to the magazine. I was comparing it with a Pearce Grip extension for a Glock 26 I have, and while both serve a similar purpose, the FN extension appeared more streamlined and integrated into the overall design of the pistol.
Initially, I was excited about the potential improvement in handling but also a little apprehensive about whether it would truly make a noticeable difference. I wasn’t disappointed.
Real-World Testing: Putting FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad to the Test
First Use Experience
My first range trip with the FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad installed was a revelation. I tested it at an outdoor range in relatively dry conditions. The difference in grip and control was immediately apparent.
The added .75 inches provided just enough space for my pinky finger to comfortably rest, allowing for a full and secure grip. Recoil management was noticeably improved, and I felt more confident in my shooting accuracy. There were no malfunctions or issues during the first 100 rounds.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, including numerous range trips and dry-fire practice sessions, the FN America Fns Compact Grip Extension Base Pad has held up admirably. There are no signs of cracking, chipping, or significant wear. The finish still looks as good as new.
Cleaning and maintenance are simple; I just wipe it down with the same solvent I use to clean my magazines. Compared to shooting the FNS-9C without the extension, the difference is night and day. The extension allows for a much more consistent and repeatable grip.
