First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 Review

First Impressions of First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834

The First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 promises a premium replacement for the strings and cables on Genesis bows. As someone who has spent years teaching archery to beginners, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of quality strings in maintaining consistent performance and safety. The First String brand is aiming for the high end, which piques my interest immediately.

My youth archery program was consistently plagued by stretched-out, frayed factory strings. Replacing these constantly was a necessity to keep the bows performing consistently for all the kids. I was looking for a robust, reliable string set that could withstand heavy use and require minimal maintenance. The promise of a “premium built string and cable kit” is exactly what I needed.

The First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 arrived in a simple, no-frills package. The initial impression was of neatly bundled, brightly colored strings. The build quality seems solid at first glance, with tightly wound strands and clean serving.

Compared to cheaper generic replacement strings, the First String set looks more substantial. I’ve used Winners Choice and other premium strings on my personal compound bows, and this set seems to have similar attention to detail. I picked the First String option because of its reputation and the promise of superior durability over less expensive alternatives. My first impressions are cautiously optimistic; I’m excited to see how they perform in action.

Real-World Testing: Putting First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 on several Genesis bows at my local archery range during a youth archery camp. This involved repeated use by numerous beginners over several hours. The range was relatively dry, but the temperature fluctuated between 70 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

Installation was straightforward, requiring only basic archery tools. The First String set settled in quickly, and the Genesis bows were back in action with minimal downtime. The initial performance was impressive, with a noticeable improvement in shot consistency compared to the worn factory strings.

I didn’t experience any major issues during the first use. However, I noticed a slight stretching of the string after the first hour, requiring minor adjustments to the bow’s settings. This is typical of new strings, but something to keep an eye on.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 has proven to be remarkably durable. I’ve observed minimal wear and tear, even with constant use by inexperienced archers. The strings have maintained their integrity, with no significant fraying or stretching.

The strings require very little maintenance beyond occasional waxing. I’ve used BCY string wax, and it seems to keep the fibers in good condition. Compared to the factory strings, which needed frequent replacement, the First String set has significantly reduced maintenance time and costs.

In comparison to my previous experiences with budget replacement strings, the First String Genesis String and Cable Set 1201834 clearly outperforms them in terms of durability and consistent performance. The investment is justified given the reduced maintenance and improved reliability. The consistency alone makes teaching archery much easier.
