The Firefield Impact XLT 1x 33x24mm Multi Red Dot Reflex Sight – CR123A Battery, Unlimited Eye Relief, 1x Fixed Magnification, 3.60″ Length Made a Bold First Impression

The Firefield Impact XLT 1x 33x24mm Multi Red Dot Reflex Sight – CR123A Battery, Unlimited Eye Relief, 1x Fixed Magnification, 3.60″ Length is a full-sized reflex sight designed for rapid target acquisition. Marketed towards target shooters and hunters, the Firefield Impact XLT promises versatility with multiple reticle options, adjustable brightness, and a quick detach mount. Its appeal lies in providing a budget-friendly optic without sacrificing critical features.

My quest for a reliable and affordable red dot sight for my AR-15 led me to the Firefield Impact XLT. I wanted an optic that could handle both close-quarters drills and longer-range target practice without breaking the bank. The promise of multiple reticle options and a quick detach mount sealed the deal.

Upon unboxing, I was initially impressed by the sight’s solid feel and the included accessories. The matte black finish looked durable, and the protective shield gave me confidence in its ability to withstand some abuse. While the overall design was straightforward, it seemed well-constructed for its price point.

Compared to a Sig Sauer Romeo5 and a Holosun HS403B that I’ve previously used, the Firefield Impact XLT definitely felt more budget-oriented. The Sig and Holosun offered more refined aesthetics and potentially better glass clarity, but they also came with significantly higher price tags. The Firefield aimed to bridge the gap between price and functionality.

My first impression was cautiously optimistic. I was eager to see if the Firefield Impact XLT’s performance could match its promising feature set. The hope was that this optic could serve as a solid, reliable option for shooters on a budget.

Real-World Testing: Putting Firefield Impact XLT 1x 33x24mm Multi Red Dot Reflex Sight – CR123A Battery, Unlimited Eye Relief, 1x Fixed Magnification, 3.60″ Length to the Test

First Use Experience

I first tested the Firefield Impact XLT at my local outdoor shooting range, mounting it on my AR-15. The weather was sunny with a slight breeze, perfect conditions for sighting in a new optic. I started at 25 yards, then moved to 50 and finally 100 yards.

The initial zeroing process was relatively straightforward, although the adjustments felt a bit mushy compared to higher-end optics. I cycled through the different reticle options, finding the 3 MOA dot with 50 MOA circle most effective for my shooting style. The brightness settings proved useful as the day progressed, allowing me to adapt to varying light conditions.

One immediate issue I noticed was a slight parallax shift, especially at longer distances. While not a deal-breaker at this price point, it required more careful head placement to maintain accuracy. Also, the included adjustment tools felt a little flimsy, urging caution when making changes.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of regular use, the Firefield Impact XLT has held up surprisingly well. I’ve put a few hundred rounds downrange with it mounted, and it has maintained its zero, even after removing and reattaching it using the quick detach mount. The quick detach mount’s return-to-zero capability proved to be surprisingly accurate, requiring only minor adjustments after reattachment.

Cosmetically, the Firefield Impact XLT shows minimal signs of wear, despite being subjected to some minor bumps and scrapes. Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe down with a microfiber cloth keeps the lens clear of debris. The protective shield has proven its worth, deflecting stray brass and preventing scratches on the optic’s housing.

In comparison to my previous experiences with budget-friendly red dots, the Firefield Impact XLT offers a better combination of features and reliability. While it doesn’t match the optical clarity or refinement of high-end optics, it provides a functional and dependable aiming solution for recreational shooting. Its multiple reticle options provide versatility that some more expensive optics lack.
