The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet 12 Gauge 7/8oz 2.75in 7 1/2 Shot Shotgun Ammunition
12IN2475 45% Off is a target load designed specifically for competitive shooting disciplines like trap and skeet, as well as sporting clays. Manufactured by Fiocchi, this ammunition promises a winning combination of Italian tradition and American reliability. It’s designed to deliver consistent performance and uniform patterns, all while keeping recoil manageable.
My journey to discover the Fiocchi target loads started with a growing frustration. I was struggling to maintain consistent scores during local trap competitions, and I suspected that my ammunition was the culprit. I needed a load that would offer both tight patterns and reduced recoil to minimize fatigue during long shooting sessions.
The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition comes packaged in sturdy boxes of 25 shells, with 10 boxes per case. Upon opening a box, the shells themselves are clean and well-constructed. The purple hull is distinctive and instantly recognizable, a nod to Fiocchi’s long-standing presence in the target shooting world.
I considered other popular target loads from Remington and Winchester, but ultimately chose the Fiocchi for its reputation for consistency and the promise of lower recoil with the 7/8oz load. The 45% off sale price certainly sweetened the deal! My initial impression was positive; the ammunition looked and felt like a quality product, and I was eager to put it to the test.

First Use Experience
My first outing with the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition was at my local shooting range, which features a well-maintained trap field. I shot several rounds of trap under sunny, mild conditions. The first thing I noticed was the significantly reduced recoil compared to the heavier 1 1/8oz loads I had been using previously.
The Fiocchi shells cycled smoothly through my over-under shotgun, and the report was consistent from shot to shot. The target breaks were positive and convincing, which gave me immediate confidence in the ammunition’s performance. There were no malfunctions or misfires during the initial testing.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition has proven to be incredibly reliable. I have fired hundreds of rounds in various weather conditions, including hot, humid days and cooler, drizzly afternoons. The performance has remained consistent, and I have not experienced any issues with cycling, misfires, or squib loads.
In terms of durability, the shells themselves hold up well in storage. I have noticed no degradation in performance, even after storing them for extended periods in my gun safe. Cleaning my shotgun after using the Fiocchi ammunition is straightforward; the residue is minimal, and there is no excessive fouling. The Fiocchi ammunition outperforms other target loads I have used in the past, particularly in terms of recoil reduction and consistent patterning.
Breaking Down the Features of **Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet 12 Gauge 7/8oz 2.75in 7 1/2 Shot Shotgun Ammunition

Specifications
- Gauge: 12
- Length: 2.75 inches
- Oz. Shot: 7/8 oz (24 grams)
- Velocity FPS: 1350
- Shot Sizes: 7.5
- Rounds Per Box: 25
- Boxes Per Case: 10
- Shot Type: Lead
- Hull Material: Max (likely referring to a high-quality plastic)
- Application: Target Shooting (though listed as “Hunting”, this is clearly a target load)
- Line: EXACTA
These specifications are important because they directly impact the ammunition’s performance and suitability for target shooting. The 7/8oz shot weight reduces recoil, making it easier to stay on target for follow-up shots and minimize fatigue during extended shooting sessions. The 1350 FPS velocity provides ample energy to break clay targets at typical trap and skeet distances, while the #7.5 shot size offers a good balance between pattern density and energy transfer.
Performance & Functionality
The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition performs exceptionally well in its intended role. The reduced recoil allows for faster follow-up shots and greater overall accuracy. The patterns are consistent and dense, resulting in solid target breaks.
One strength is the noticeable reduction in recoil compared to heavier loads, which significantly improves shooting comfort and reduces fatigue. A potential weakness is that the lighter 7/8oz load might not be ideal for longer-range sporting clays targets or windy conditions, where a heavier load might provide better energy retention. It meets and exceeds my expectations for a target load intended for trap and skeet.
Design & Ergonomics
The Fiocchi shells are well-designed and manufactured, with a clean, consistent crimp and a smooth, reliable primer. The purple hull is visually appealing and easily identifiable. The weight is well-balanced, and the shells load smoothly into my shotgun’s chambers.
The shells are user-friendly, with no noticeable learning curve. They perform reliably in a variety of shotguns.
Durability & Maintenance
The Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition is durable and holds up well in storage. The high-quality components ensure reliable performance, even after extended storage periods. Cleaning my shotgun after using this ammunition is straightforward, with minimal residue and fouling.
The lead shot is of high quality, minimizing deformation and ensuring consistent patterns.
Accessories and Customization Options
This ammunition doesn’t require any specific accessories or customization. It is designed to perform optimally in its stock configuration. While some shooters might experiment with different chokes to fine-tune their patterns, the Fiocchi sInt’l Trap/Skeet ammunition performs well with a variety of choke constrictions. The ammunition is compatible with most 12-gauge shotguns designed for 2.75-inch shells.
