Let’s Dive into **Fiocchi Range Dynamics .38 Special 148 Grain LDWC Brass Cased Pistol Ammunition
38LA 41% Off**
As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve handled and tested countless types of ammunition over the past decade. But few have piqued my interest quite like the Fiocchi Range Dynamics .38 Special 148 Grain LDWC Brass Cased Pistol Ammunition
38LA 41% Off. Manufactured by Fiocchi, a name synonymous with quality and affordability, this ammunition promises consistent performance for target shooting and practice. This particular offering, with its lead wadcutter (LDWC) bullet and brass casing, immediately caught my attention.
I was looking for an affordable and reliable round for extended range sessions with my Smith & Wesson Model 10. Regular full metal jacket rounds can be harsh on older revolvers, and I wanted something that would be gentle on the gun while still providing excellent accuracy for paper targets. The promise of clean, precisely cut holes from the wadcutter design was also a major draw.
The ammunition arrived neatly packaged in a standard cardboard box containing 50 rounds. The brass casings gleamed, and the lead wadcutters were cleanly cast and uniformly seated. Handling the rounds, they felt solid and well-made; a noticeable step above some of the cheaper plinking ammunition I’ve used in the past.
Compared to standard .38 Special FMJ rounds from Winchester or Federal, the Fiocchi offering stood out due to its bullet design. Full metal jackets are great for penetration, but these wadcutters are specifically designed to punch clean holes in paper targets, making scoring much easier. Compared to some coated lead rounds, the brass casing of the Fiocchi promises smoother feeding and extraction. My initial impression was positive – I was excited to see how these performed at the range.

First Use Experience
I tested the Fiocchi Range Dynamics .38 Special 148 Grain LDWC Brass Cased Pistol Ammunition
38LA 41% Off at my local outdoor shooting range on a clear, sunny afternoon. I used my Smith & Wesson Model 10, a classic .38 Special revolver with a 4-inch barrel. The temperature was around 70 degrees Fahrenheit with a slight breeze.
The first few rounds felt smooth and consistent. Recoil was noticeably mild, making it easy to maintain a good grip and sight picture. The spent casings ejected cleanly with no signs of sticking or deformation. One minor observation, shooting with lead bullets produces noticeable smoke that might affect some people.
I experienced no malfunctions during the first 50 rounds. I was pleasantly surprised by the accuracy, even at 25 yards; the wadcutters were indeed cutting clean, round holes in the paper target.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, I’ve put roughly 500 rounds of Fiocchi Range Dynamics .38 Special 148 Grain LDWC Brass Cased Pistol Ammunition
38LA 41% Off through my Model 10. The ammunition has remained consistently reliable, with no failures to feed, fire, or eject. The brass casings remain reloadable, which is a huge plus for me.
I have noticed minimal wear and tear on my revolver. The softer lead bullets are gentler on the barrel compared to full metal jacket rounds. Cleaning is relatively straightforward, although lead residue does require a bit more effort compared to copper-jacketed bullets.
Compared to my previous experience with other brands of .38 Special ammunition, the Fiocchi rounds are noticeably more accurate and produce less felt recoil. This makes them ideal for extended practice sessions and introducing new shooters to the .38 Special platform.
