The Fiocchi Knock Down 7mm-08 Remington 140 Grain HP Brass Rifle Ammunition immediately caught my attention due to its reputation for reliable performance and terminal ballistics, particularly important for ethical hunting. The Fiocchi brand is well-known, but I was curious to see how this specific load performed in real-world scenarios.
For years, I’ve been searching for the ideal 7mm-08 load, one that balances manageable recoil with sufficient knockdown power for whitetail and the occasional mule deer. Factory loads often leave something to be desired, either being too light for confident shots or too heavy and punishing to shoot accurately over extended periods.
Upon receiving the Fiocchi Knock Down ammunition, the first thing I noticed was the clean, consistent brass and the precisely seated hollow point bullets. The packaging was standard, but the ammo itself looked meticulously crafted, suggesting a dedication to quality control.
I’ve primarily used Federal and Winchester 7mm-08 loads in the past, but the reports of consistent expansion and humane kills with the Fiocchi ammunition swayed me to give it a try. I was anticipating a reliable and effective round that would perform as advertised. My initial excitement stemmed from the potential for increased confidence in the field.

First Use Experience
My initial testing took place at my local shooting range, under controlled conditions. I used my Remington Model 7 rifle, a lightweight and accurate platform ideal for the 7mm-08 cartridge.
The weather was typical for late fall: crisp and cool, with a slight breeze. The ammunition performed flawlessly, cycling smoothly and producing consistent groupings at 100 yards.
The recoil was noticeably milder than some of the heavier loads I’ve used in the past, making it easier to maintain accuracy during rapid follow-up shots. I did not experience any jams or misfires, which is always a positive start.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, primarily during deer season, the Fiocchi Knock Down ammunition has proven to be remarkably consistent and reliable. I’ve fired approximately 100 rounds, and the performance has remained unchanged.
The ammunition showed no signs of degradation, even after being stored in my hunting pack for extended periods. Cleaning my rifle after using the Fiocchi ammunition has been straightforward, with minimal fouling in the barrel.
I found the Fiocchi Knock Down to be a noticeable improvement over my previous ammunition choice, particularly in terms of terminal performance. The consistent expansion and clean kills I experienced during the hunting season solidified my confidence in this round.
