The Fiocchi Dove/Quail 16 Gauge 1oz 2.75in 7 1/2 Shot 2 Size Shotgun Ammunition
16GT75 46% Off is a shotshell designed specifically for upland game hunting and target shooting. Fiocchi, a well-respected Italian ammunition manufacturer, offers this load as a promotional-grade option that doesn’t compromise on quality, making it an attractive choice for shooters seeking value and performance. Featuring a brass-based hull, quality wads, and reliable powder, this ammunition promises consistent feeding, extraction, and clean burning.
My venture into exploring the Fiocchi Dove/Quail ammunition started last fall. I had inherited my grandfather’s prized 16-gauge Browning Auto-5 and was eager to put it back in the field, chasing memories of hunts past. But the 16 gauge has sadly become a somewhat niche shell. Finding reliable and reasonably priced ammunition proved to be a challenge.
Upon receiving the Fiocchi Dove/Quail shells, my first impression was positive. The packaging was standard, but the shells themselves looked well-made with a clean crimp. The brass base gave it a sturdy feel, something I appreciate in ammunition.
Compared to some cheaper, foreign-made bulk shells I’ve used in the past, the Fiocchi shells felt significantly better in terms of build quality and overall presentation. I also considered pricier options like Federal Premium or Winchester AA, but the cost was prohibitive for the volume I intended to shoot. The advertised 46% discount certainly helped sway my decision, putting the Fiocchi in a sweet spot of affordability and perceived quality. I was cautiously optimistic.
My initial excitement was definitely tinged with a bit of skepticism. Promotional grade ammunition can sometimes be a mixed bag, but the Fiocchi name gave me hope.

First Use Experience
The first time I took the Fiocchi Dove/Quail ammunition to the range was on a crisp October morning. I was eager to see how it performed in my Auto-5. The conditions were ideal: clear skies and a slight breeze.
The shells cycled flawlessly through my Browning. The recoil was manageable, feeling similar to other 1-ounce loads I’ve used in the past. I patterned the shells at 30 yards and was pleased to see a fairly consistent spread, with good density in the center. There were no noticeable holes in the pattern, suggesting good shot distribution. More importantly, the shells broke clays consistently. No failures to eject, no duds, just reliable performance.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, spread across various hunting trips for dove and quail, the Fiocchi Dove/Quail ammunition continued to impress. I’ve put several boxes through my shotgun without a single malfunction.
The shells have proven to be reliable even in less-than-ideal conditions. I encountered a couple of hunts in light rain, and the ammunition performed without issue. While I always wipe down my shotgun after exposure to moisture, I didn’t notice any swelling or degradation of the shells themselves. After a full season, there were no signs of significant wear on my shotgun’s action that could be attributed to these shells, and cleaning remained straightforward. The brass base still extracts smoothly, and the plastic hulls do not appear brittle or prone to cracking. Overall, the Fiocchi Dove/Quail has exceeded my expectations and provided a consistent, reliable performance that rivals much pricier ammunition.
