EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh Review

First Impressions of EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh

As an avid angler, constantly pursuing that next trophy fish, I’ve always been on the lookout for the perfect landing net. Maneuvering a feisty fish close to the boat can be a dance of finesse and frustration, especially when the net isn’t up to par. Enter the EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh, a net that promised extended reach and tangle-free netting, piquing my interest immediately.

My fishing adventures often take me to remote locations where gear failure is not an option. I needed a net that could handle the demands of both freshwater and saltwater fishing, providing the necessary reach without sacrificing strength and maneuverability. The EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh appeared to offer a solution that balanced these requirements.

Upon unboxing, the first thing that struck me was the robust feel of the handle and the generous size of the mesh. The EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh boasts a solid construction that inspired confidence right away. Compared to my previous net, a cheaper, fixed-length model with a rubberized net that perpetually snagged hooks, this felt like a serious upgrade. Other nets I considered were the Frabill Trophy Haul and the StowMaster Tournament Series, but the EGO Fishing net’s combination of reach and advertised tangle-free design swayed my decision. I was genuinely excited to put this net through its paces.

Real-World Testing: Putting EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial test took place on a local reservoir known for its hefty largemouth bass population. Launching my kayak, I specifically targeted areas with dense cover, anticipating the need for the EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh’s extended reach. The first fish of the day, a respectable 4-pounder, provided an excellent opportunity to test the net’s capabilities.

The EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh performed admirably, allowing me to easily scoop the bass from under a low-hanging branch. The 48″ Slider Handle extended smoothly, providing the necessary reach without feeling unwieldy. The Non-Tangle PVC Coated Mesh lived up to its promise, preventing my lure’s treble hooks from becoming hopelessly entangled.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of equipment. The aluminum handle shows no signs of bending or weakening, even after numerous encounters with sizable fish. Cleaning the net is a breeze; a quick rinse with fresh water effectively removes any fish slime or debris.

Compared to my previous net, which required constant repairs and hook removals, the EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh has been a game-changer. The peace of mind knowing that my net won’t fail during a crucial moment is invaluable. It has significantly outperformed my expectations, becoming an indispensable part of my fishing arsenal.

The extendable handle allows for precise placement of the net, minimizing stress on the fish. The Non-Tangle PVC Coated Mesh is a significant advantage, preventing hooks from becoming snagged and allowing for a smooth release.

However, the sliding mechanism, while generally smooth, can occasionally stick, especially when wet or dirty. This is a minor inconvenience, but something to be aware of. Despite this, the net consistently meets and exceeds my expectations.

Durability & Maintenance

The EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh appears to be built to last. The aluminum handle is resistant to corrosion, and the PVC Coated Mesh is designed to withstand abrasion and UV damage. With proper care, this net should provide years of reliable service.

Maintenance is simple: rinse the net with fresh water after each use and occasionally lubricate the slider mechanism with a silicone-based lubricant. This ensures smooth operation and prevents corrosion.

Accessories and Customization Options

The EGO Fishing S2 Slider Reach Large Mesh doesn’t offer extensive customization options, but its core design is highly functional. No accessories are included beyond the net itself. However, the handle can be easily attached to a lanyard or retractor for added security.

The EGO Fishing brand offers a range of accessories compatible with their nets, such as different mesh types and handle extensions. The net is designed to be functional out of the box.
