First Impressions of DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster
The DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster immediately struck me as a no-nonsense, practical solution for concealed carry. Made by DeSantis, a reputable name in the holster industry, its simple design promises comfort and concealability without unnecessary frills. The use of ballistic nylon and a sturdy clip suggest durability, and the ambidextrous design is a welcome touch for versatile use.
I was searching for a comfortable and reliable IWB (Inside the Waistband) holster for my SIG Sauer P365. My current Kydex holster was digging into my side after extended wear, and I needed a softer option that wouldn’t compromise on retention.
Upon unboxing, the first thing I noticed was the generous padding. The 1050D ballistic nylon felt robust yet pliable, and the inner pack cloth lining seemed smooth against the skin. The holster felt lightweight, and the spring clip looked incredibly sturdy.
Compared to my previous all-Kydex IWB holster and a hybrid leather/Kydex model, the DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster seemed less rigid. I hoped this would translate to more comfortable all-day carry. I was excited about the potential for enhanced comfort and concealment.
Real-World Testing: Putting DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster during a day at the shooting range and an afternoon hiking in the local hills. The holster was worn with my SIG Sauer P365 in the appendix carry position. I experienced varying conditions, from the controlled environment of the range to the sweaty exertion of the hike.
The DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster proved surprisingly comfortable. The padded nylon conformed to my body, minimizing pressure points compared to my rigid Kydex holster. Drawing and re-holstering were smooth and consistent after a few practice runs.
One slight issue was the clip’s initial tightness on my belt; it required deliberate effort to attach and detach. However, the retention was solid, giving me confidence that the pistol wouldn’t shift during movement.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of daily carry, the DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster has become my go-to holster for concealed carry. It has proven comfortable enough for all-day wear during various activities, from running errands to attending outdoor events. The DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster maintains its shape well.
I haven’t noticed any significant wear and tear. The stitching remains intact, and the ballistic nylon shows no signs of fraying. Maintenance is simple; I occasionally wipe it down with a damp cloth to remove sweat and lint.
Compared to my previous holsters, the DeSantis The Pro Stealth IWB Holster offers a superior balance of comfort and retention. It outperforms Kydex in comfort and rivals hybrid holsters in concealability, making it a noticeable upgrade.
