Let’s Talk About DeSantis Kurz Shotgun Case, 12 or 20 GA Mossberg – 1 out of 2 models
The DeSantis Kurz Shotgun Case, 12 or 20 GA Mossberg – 1 out of 2 models, from DeSantis Gunhide, offers a unique take on shotgun transportation. It’s designed for those who prefer a shorter, more maneuverable firearm. This case promises secure carry and quick access, blending classic materials with a modern, tactical design.
My interest in the DeSantis Kurz stemmed from a need for a more compact solution than traditional full-length cases. I often find myself navigating thick brush while upland bird hunting. Maneuvering a full-sized shotgun in a standard case becomes a real hindrance.
Upon unboxing, the Kurz Case immediately impressed me with its robust construction and high-quality materials. The premium center cut cowhide exudes durability, while the full grain saddle leather trim adds a touch of class. It felt substantial in hand, suggesting a well-made product built to last.
Compared to a nylon scabbard I’d previously used, the DeSantis offered superior protection and a more refined aesthetic. I also considered a hard plastic case, but the Kurz seemed more practical for quick deployment and easier carry in dense terrain. Ultimately, the blend of protection, portability, and traditional materials won me over.
My first impression was overwhelmingly positive. The case felt like a premium product, striking a balance between practicality and aesthetics. I was genuinely excited to field test it.
Real-World Testing: Putting DeSantis Kurz Shotgun Case, 12 or 20 GA Mossberg – 1 out of 2 models to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the DeSantis Kurz Shotgun Case on a pheasant hunting trip in South Dakota. The landscape consisted of rolling hills and tall grasses. I experienced both dry and slightly damp conditions.
The case performed admirably. Its short profile allowed me to navigate through thick cover with ease, a stark contrast to the cumbersome nature of a full-length case. Drawing the shotgun was surprisingly quick, even with gloves on.
I did initially find the non-slip shoulder strap required some adjustment to achieve optimal comfort. However, after tweaking the strap length, it sat securely and comfortably across my chest. There were no major issues after the first use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the DeSantis Kurz Shotgun Case has proven to be a reliable companion. The leather has developed a nice patina, adding to its character. There are no signs of significant wear and tear.
The stitching remains tight and secure, and the shoulder strap shows no signs of fraying. I wipe down the leather with a damp cloth after each use, and occasionally apply a leather conditioner to maintain its suppleness. This simple routine keeps the case looking and functioning like new.
Compared to my previous nylon scabbard, the DeSantis Kurz is a significant upgrade in both durability and ease of use. It offers superior protection for the shotgun and is much more comfortable to carry for extended periods. I’m extremely pleased with its performance.
