The DeSantis DS Paddle Kydex Holsters, SIG Sauer – 1 out of 27 models, crafted by DeSantis Gunhide, is a no-nonsense, purpose-built holster designed for those who prioritize speed, comfort, and reliability in a concealed carry or open carry setup. Made entirely of thermo-plastic, this holster promises a lightweight and compact solution without sacrificing retention or draw speed. Its adjustability and the inclusion of a belt slot attachment add to its versatility, making it a compelling option for SIG Sauer owners.
My journey to finding the perfect holster has been a long one, marked by frustrating experiences with ill-fitting leather and bulky nylon options. I needed a holster that would securely hold my SIG, allow for a rapid draw, and be comfortable enough for all-day carry. The promise of minimal friction and adjustable cant on the DeSantis DS Paddle Kydex Holsters, SIG Sauer – 1 out of 27 models caught my attention.
Upon unboxing, my initial impression was one of functional simplicity. The Kydex felt robust, yet surprisingly lightweight. The molding appeared precise, suggesting a snug fit for my SIG Sauer. The paddle attachment seemed secure and well-designed for comfortable carry.
Compared to other Kydex paddle holsters I’ve used from Blackhawk and Safariland, the DeSantis model seemed less bulky, with a more streamlined profile. I also considered a Vedder Holsters ProDraw, but the DeSantis’s included belt slot attachment tipped the scales. I was excited by its potential for comfortable concealed carry and was eager to put it through its paces.
Real-World Testing: Putting DeSantis DS Paddle Kydex Holsters, SIG Sauer – 1 out of 27 models to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the DeSantis DS Paddle Kydex Holsters, SIG Sauer – 1 out of 27 models was at my local shooting range during a practical pistol competition. I wanted to gauge its speed and retention under pressure. The holster was subjected to rapid draws, re-holstering under time constraints, and movement between shooting positions.
The holster performed admirably in dry conditions. I found the draw to be smooth and consistent, with minimal friction. Re-holstering was equally efficient, with a positive “click” indicating secure retention. The adjustable cant allowed me to fine-tune the holster to my preferred draw angle.
There were no issues with initial use, but I wanted to see how it would fare with moisture.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of carrying the DeSantis DS Paddle Kydex Holsters, SIG Sauer – 1 out of 27 models daily, I have a much better understanding of its capabilities and limitations. I tested it in a variety of conditions, from hot and humid days on the range to cooler, rainy hikes.
The Kydex has proven to be exceptionally durable, showing no signs of wear or cracking. Even after repeated draws and re-holstering, the finish remains unblemished. The paddle attachment has held up well, maintaining a secure grip on my belt. The DeSantis holster has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability.
Maintenance is simple: I just wipe it down with a damp cloth after each use. This is a welcome change from the constant conditioning required with leather holsters. Compared to my older nylon holster, which would often retain moisture and develop an unpleasant odor, the DeSantis Kydex stays clean and fresh.
