First Impressions of Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series
The Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series is a turkey call designed by National and World Champion caller Tyler Presley. Dead End Game Calls promises a call with incredible power, perfect for excited yelping, cutting, and fly downs. This 3 1/2 reed call is marketed towards those looking for a versatile call that can handle a lot of air.
I was in the market for a new diaphragm call. Specifically, I needed something that could produce convincing cutting and excited yelps to draw in stubborn late-season toms. My older calls had lost their edge, and I was hoping the Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series would breathe new life into my calling game.
Upon receiving the call, I was immediately struck by its compact size. It felt well-constructed, but honestly, at this price point, I wasn’t expecting perfection. Compared to my Primos and Quaker Boy calls, the Tyler Presley Signature Series seemed slightly thinner and more flexible.
I considered other options like a WoodHaven or a Lynch Mob call, but the Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series’s relatively low price and the endorsement from a champion caller ultimately swayed my decision. I walked into this expecting great performance at a budget-friendly price, and the name tied to it gave me confidence.
My initial excitement was cautiously optimistic. At $12.95, I knew I wasn’t investing in a top-of-the-line custom call. I was hoping for solid performance and versatility without breaking the bank, and eager to test it in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series on a scouting trip in early spring. The weather was typical for the season – damp and a bit chilly. I focused on producing yelps and cutting sounds in an open field, mimicking a hen trying to locate other turkeys.
The call took some getting used to. It required more precise air control than my other calls to avoid sounding raspy or squeaky. After about an hour of practice, I started to get the hang of it and was able to produce some reasonably convincing calls.
My first attempt at a fly-down cackle resulted in something closer to a strangled goose, but after adjusting my diaphragm pressure and tongue position, I managed a passable imitation. I was surprised and impressed by the realistic tone I could produce with the call.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use during turkey season, the Dead End Game Calls Tyler Presley Signature Series has held up surprisingly well. The reeds are still in good condition. There are no signs of significant wear and tear despite being used in all weather conditions.
Cleaning the call is easy. I simply rinse it with water and let it air dry. I occasionally apply a small amount of mouth call conditioner to keep the reeds pliable.
Compared to other budget diaphragm calls I’ve used in the past, the Tyler Presley Signature Series has exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and sound quality. This call outperforms others in its price range. This will be a solid investment for any turkey hunter looking to expand their game.
