CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield Review

Let’s Talk About CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield

The CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield is a minimalist, budget-friendly option for concealed carry. Designed specifically for Springfield Armory pistols like the Hellcat, this holster promises secure retention and comfortable all-day carry. CYA Supply Co. aims to deliver a reliable holster crafted from durable Boltaron material, offering an alternative to Kydex at a competitive price.

I recently acquired a Springfield Hellcat and needed a reliable IWB holster that wouldn’t break the bank. Having used various holsters over the years, I was looking for something lightweight, comfortable, and with adjustable retention. I wanted a no-frills option that would prioritize security and ease of concealment.

Upon unboxing, the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield felt surprisingly robust for its price point. The Boltaron material appeared well-formed, and the matte finish gave it a tactical aesthetic. The holster was lightweight and the build quality seemed adequate, though not exceptionally refined.

I considered options from We The People Holsters and Vedder Holsters, both known for their Kydex IWB holsters. However, the CYA Supply Co. option offered a more attractive price point and claimed superior heat resistance with its Boltaron construction. I was also intrigued by the adjustable cant and retention features.

My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The holster seemed well-made for the price, but I was eager to test its performance and comfort during real-world carry scenarios. The promise of Boltaron’s advantages over Kydex also piqued my interest.

Real-World Testing: Putting CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield to the Test

First Use Experience

I initially tested the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield at my local indoor shooting range. This allowed me to assess its draw speed, retention, and comfort during active movement. I wore it in the appendix carry position (AIWB) and at the 3 o’clock position.

The holster performed adequately in dry conditions at the range. Drawing the Hellcat was relatively smooth, and the audible “click” during re-holstering provided reassuring feedback. However, I did notice some initial discomfort around the edges of the holster against my skin.

Adjusting the retention screw made a significant difference in how securely the Hellcat was held, a feature I appreciated. After some modifications to the cant, I found the sweet spot for a comfortable and consistent draw. The holster’s sweat guard also prevented the slide from directly contacting my skin, a nice touch during prolonged use.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of daily carry, the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield has held up reasonably well. While the Boltaron material shows no signs of cracking or significant wear, the edges have become slightly smoother with use, improving comfort.

The nylon belt clip remains sturdy and reliably secures the holster to my belt. I’ve worn it during various activities, including hiking, running errands, and even some light yard work, and it has consistently maintained its position. The holster is easy to clean with a damp cloth, and the stainless steel hardware shows no signs of rust or corrosion.

Compared to my previous experience with cheaper, universal nylon holsters, the CYA Supply Co. holster is a noticeable upgrade in terms of security and retention. While it doesn’t offer the same level of refinement as premium Kydex holsters, it performs admirably for its price. It outperforms cheap nylon holsters and provides a definite, audible click when holstering.

This thickness provides a good balance between rigidity and flexibility, making it comfortable for all-day carry. The holster is designed specifically for the Springfield Hellcat, ensuring a snug and secure fit.

The adjustable retention and cant allow users to customize the holster to their preferred carry style.

Performance & Functionality

The CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield performs its primary function of securely retaining the firearm effectively. The adjustable retention allows users to fine-tune the draw resistance to their preference. The audible “click” provides confidence that the firearm is properly holstered.

However, the comfort level could be improved, particularly around the edges of the holster. While the Boltaron material is durable, it lacks the smooth, rounded edges found on higher-end holsters. The adjustable cant feature is a welcome addition, allowing for a more personalized carry angle.

Overall, the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield meets expectations for a budget-friendly IWB holster. It provides reliable retention, adjustable features, and decent durability. It does not, however, offer the premium comfort and refined finish of more expensive options.

The holster is relatively user-friendly, with easily adjustable retention and cant. There is a slight learning curve in finding the optimal settings for individual carry preferences. Once dialed in, the draw stroke becomes consistent and reliable.

Durability & Maintenance

The Boltaron material used in the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield is expected to last for several years with regular use. Boltaron is known for its resistance to abrasion, chemicals, and extreme temperatures. This makes it a suitable material for a holster that is subjected to daily wear and tear.

The holster requires minimal maintenance, simply needing to be wiped down with a damp cloth as needed. The stainless steel hardware should resist corrosion, further extending the holster’s lifespan. It’s important to keep the holster clean of debris to maintain smooth draws.

Accessories and Customization Options

The CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield comes with a Hex Allen Key for adjusting the retention and cant. It does not include any additional accessories or customization options beyond these adjustments. Users can customize the holster by adding aftermarket belt clips or modifying the ride height.

The holster is compatible with most standard 1.5-inch gun belts. Some users may choose to add a wedge or claw to further enhance concealment, although these are not included. It is important to note that the CYA Supply Co. Inside the Waistband Holster for Springfield is designed specifically for the Springfield Hellcat and may not be compatible with other firearms without modification.
