Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling Review

Let’s Dive into Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling

The Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling promises versatility and durability for firearm carry. Offered by Crosstac, this sling boasts a solid web construction and rapid conversion between single-point and two-point configurations. This caught my eye as someone with over a decade of experience navigating diverse terrains and tactical scenarios.

My go-to sling had always been a bungee model, but I was growing tired of the “bounce” when moving quickly. I needed something more stable for carrying heavier rifles, particularly when transitioning between firing positions or navigating obstacles. A sling that could easily switch between single and two-point configurations was also a must, allowing for adaptability in different operational environments.

Out of the box, the Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling felt robust and well-made. The webbing was stiff but not abrasive, suggesting it would hold up to significant wear and tear. Its weight was surprisingly light, a welcome change from the heavier, more cumbersome slings I’ve used in the past.

I considered the Magpul MS4 and the Blue Force Gear Vickers Combat Applications Sling before settling on the Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling. The Magpul was similarly versatile, but felt slightly bulkier. The Vickers sling is renowned for its quick adjustability, but lacks the single-point conversion option I desired. The Crosstac seemed to offer the best balance of features, simplicity, and price.

My initial impression was cautiously optimistic. It seemed like a well-designed and functional piece of kit, but the true test would be in the field. Could this sling live up to its promises of versatility and durability under real-world conditions?

Real-World Testing: Putting Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling to the Test

First Use Experience

My first outing with the Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling was at a local shooting range, followed by a weekend hiking trip through the Appalachian foothills. The range provided a controlled environment to test the sling’s adjustability and transition capabilities. The hiking trip allowed me to evaluate its comfort and stability over extended periods of movement.

The sling performed admirably in both scenarios. I tested it in both single and two-point configurations with my AR-15, easily transitioning between them as needed. The adjustment buckle was smooth and easy to operate, even with gloves on.

Initially, the webbing felt a bit stiff against my plate carrier, but after a few hours of use, it started to conform better to my body. There were no major issues, although I did notice the HK-style clips occasionally snagged on my gear when moving through dense brush.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling has proven to be a reliable and durable piece of equipment. The webbing has softened slightly with use, making it more comfortable against my body. There are no signs of fraying or significant wear and tear, even after exposure to mud, rain, and sun.

Cleaning the sling is straightforward. A quick scrub with mild soap and water is all it takes to remove dirt and grime. I also periodically apply a silicone-based lubricant to the adjustment buckle to keep it operating smoothly.

Compared to my previous bungee sling, the Crosstac Ambi Solid Gun Sling offers significantly improved stability and control, especially when carrying heavier rifles. The solid web construction eliminates the unwanted “bounce” and allows for more precise weapon manipulation. While the bungee sling offered some shock absorption, the Crosstac provides a more stable platform for shooting on the move.
