CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife Review

First Impressions of CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife

The CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife immediately strikes you as a solid, no-nonsense tool. CJRB has carved out a niche for delivering quality knives at a reasonable price, and the Chord seems to continue that trend. The combination of AR-RPM9 steel and green canvas micarta hints at a knife that’s both capable and comfortable.

I was looking for a reliable EDC (Everyday Carry) knife that could handle a variety of tasks, from opening packages to more demanding outdoor chores. I needed a blade that would hold an edge and a handle that would provide a secure grip, even in less-than-ideal conditions.

The CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife arrived in a simple, zippered nylon case – functional, if not fancy. The knife felt substantial in hand, with the micarta offering a reassuring texture. The stonewash finish on the blade gave it a practical, almost pre-worn look, suggesting it’s ready for work.

Compared to my Spyderco Paramilitary 2 and Benchmade Bugout, the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife feels like a more budget-friendly, yet robust option. I chose the Chord for its potentially greater durability and less anxiety about heavy use, since it’s priced lower than the other two.

My first impression was definitely positive; I was excited to see how well it would perform under real-world conditions. The initial feeling was one of solid quality and thoughtful design, indicating that the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife might be a hidden gem in the EDC world.

Real-World Testing: Putting CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife to the Test

First Use Experience

I first took the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife on a weekend camping trip in the Appalachian Mountains. The weather was typical for the region – damp and unpredictable.

The knife was immediately put to work preparing kindling for a fire and food preparation. Its performance in wet conditions was notable; the micarta handle provided excellent grip even when my hands were damp. Opening and closing the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife with wet hands was still easy, thanks to the reliable button lock.

There was a slight learning curve with the button lock, as I’m more accustomed to liner locks or frame locks. However, after a few practice runs, the operation became intuitive.

No major issues arose during the first use, but I did notice that the stonewashed blade showed some minor smudging from tree sap that required a bit of extra effort to clean. The CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife handled the first test well, exhibiting both capability and durability.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of consistent use, the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife has proven to be a reliable companion. I’ve used it for everything from daily tasks like opening boxes to more demanding activities such as cutting rope and shaping wood.

The AR-RPM9 steel has held up admirably, retaining a sharp edge even after prolonged use. There are minor scratches on the stonewash finish, but that adds to the knife’s character.

Maintenance is straightforward; I simply clean the blade and pivot area with a dry cloth after each use and apply a drop of CLP to the pivot point occasionally. The CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife is easy to maintain and shows no signs of loosening or developing blade play.

Compared to some of my other EDC knives, the CJRB Chord Green 3.5in Folding Knife has impressed me with its balance of durability and ease of use. It definitely outperforms my expectations for a knife in this price range.
