CIVIVI Sentinel Strike SW 3.75in Folding Knife Review

First Impressions of CIVIVI Sentinel Strike SW 3.75in Folding Knife

The CIVIVI Sentinel Strike SW 3.75in Folding Knife immediately caught my eye with its aggressive reverse tanto blade and sleek, modern design. Manufactured by CIVIVI, a brand known for delivering high-quality knives at accessible price points, this folder promised a blend of tactical functionality and everyday carry convenience. I was eager to get my hands on it and see if it lived up to the hype.

My interest in the Sentinel Strike stemmed from a need for a reliable and robust EDC blade that wouldn’t break the bank. I was specifically looking for a knife with a strong blade, comfortable grip, and a secure locking mechanism. After browsing several options, the CIVIVI Sentinel Strike stood out due to its unique blade shape, premium materials, and positive user reviews, leading me to choose it over other contenders like the Ontario RAT Model 1 or the Kershaw Blur.

Upon unboxing the Sentinel Strike, I was immediately impressed by the overall fit and finish. The stonewashed K110 tool steel blade looked incredibly sharp and durable, while the gray aluminum handle with black FRN inlay provided a comfortable and secure grip. The knife felt solid in my hand, without being overly heavy, and the action was smooth and precise.

Comparing it to my Benchmade Griptilian, the Sentinel Strike felt equally well-built, although with a more aggressive and tactical aesthetic. The Griptilian is a workhorse, but the Sentinel Strike brings a different style to the table. I was definitely excited to put it to the test.

Real-World Testing: Putting CIVIVI Sentinel Strike SW 3.75in Folding Knife to the Test

First Use Experience

I first put the CIVIVI Sentinel Strike to use during a weekend camping trip in the mountains. I used it for various tasks, including preparing food, whittling kindling, and cutting rope. The reverse tanto blade proved to be incredibly versatile, offering excellent piercing ability and precise cutting performance.

The knife performed admirably in the damp conditions, with the stonewash finish providing good corrosion resistance. The aluminum handle offered a secure grip even when wet, and I appreciated the ease of deployment with either the thumb stud or the thumb pull. I was surprised by how comfortable the handle was during extended use, as some aluminum handles can become slick.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the CIVIVI Sentinel Strike has proven to be a reliable and durable companion. I’ve carried it daily, using it for everything from opening packages to more demanding tasks around the house and in the field. The blade has held its edge remarkably well, requiring only occasional touch-ups with a ceramic honing rod.

The aluminum handle has shown minimal signs of wear, and the pocket clip has remained securely attached. The button lock is still solid and reliable, with no signs of loosening or play. Compared to my previous EDC knife, a Spyderco Tenacious, the Sentinel Strike offers superior edge retention and a more robust overall feel.
