Let’s Talk About Cerus Gear 3mm Promats 14″x48″ Wild Ducks Full Color
The Cerus Gear 3mm Promats 14″x48″ Wild Ducks Full Color isn’t just another shooting mat; it’s a statement piece, a functional tool, and a slice of outdoor artistry all rolled into one. Manufactured by Cerus Gear, this promat offers a blend of practicality and aesthetics, providing a comfortable and protective surface while showcasing a vibrant, full-color depiction of wild ducks. It promises to be a significant upgrade over the typical drab and purely utilitarian mats I’ve used for years.
I’ve been searching for a mat that not only protects my firearms and surfaces but also adds a touch of personality to my shooting bench. My old, worn-out mat was stained, ripped, and frankly, an eyesore. The Cerus Gear promat seemed to offer the perfect solution, combining durability with a visually appealing design.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by the vividness of the wild duck print and the overall quality of the materials. The 3mm neoprene felt substantial and offered a pleasant tactile experience. The colors were rich and the image crisp, a significant improvement over the faded, generic images I’ve seen on similar products.
Compared to the generic rubber mats I’ve used in the past and the thinner, more portable mats from brands like Allen, the Cerus Gear promat impressed me with its balance of size, thickness, and visual appeal. While the Allen mat was more compact, it lacked the cushioning and surface area I desired for detailed gun cleaning and maintenance. The rubber mats were durable but offered no visual appeal. My first impression was excitement; this was more than just a mat, it was an upgrade to my entire workspace.
Real-World Testing: Putting Cerus Gear 3mm Promats 14″x48″ Wild Ducks Full Color to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing of the Cerus Gear 3mm Promats 14″x48″ Wild Ducks Full Color took place at my home workbench, where I routinely clean and maintain my firearms. I also took it to the local outdoor shooting range on a day with slightly damp conditions. The mat provided an excellent surface for disassembling and cleaning my shotgun after a morning of skeet shooting.
The 3mm neoprene offered ample cushioning, even on the slightly uneven surface of the range’s shooting benches. The non-slip backing ensured the mat stayed firmly in place, regardless of the surface conditions. It was a welcome change from chasing my old mat around the bench.
The Cerus Gear promat was incredibly easy to use right out of the box; no adjustments or special handling were required. Its size was perfect, providing ample space for all my tools and firearm components.
After the first use, I noticed the mat wiped clean easily, even after being exposed to gun oil and cleaning solvents. There were no surprises, only satisfaction with its performance.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Cerus Gear 3mm Promats 14″x48″ Wild Ducks Full Color has proven to be remarkably durable. It’s been subjected to various cleaning solvents, oils, and the occasional dropped tool, all without showing any significant signs of wear and tear. The full-color print remains vibrant, with no noticeable fading or peeling.
The 3mm neoprene has retained its cushioning, showing no signs of compression or deformation. Cleaning is still a breeze; a simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. For tougher stains, a mild soap solution works wonders.
Compared to my previous experiences with thinner, less durable mats, the Cerus Gear promat is a clear winner. It not only protects my firearms and surfaces but also provides a comfortable and aesthetically pleasing workspace. It has exceeded my expectations in terms of both durability and functionality.
