The Carlsons Beretta/Benelli Mobil 12 Gauge Turkey Mobilchoke Black Made a Bold First Impression
The world of turkey hunting is a constant quest for that perfect pattern, that extra yard of confidence, that edge that separates success from a long walk back to camp empty-handed. When Carlson’s announced the Carlsons Beretta/Benelli Mobil 12 Gauge Turkey Mobilchoke Black, touting optimized performance with Winchester’s Long Beard Turkey loads, I knew I had to get my hands on one. This choke promised tighter patterns and extended range, leveraging Shot-Lok Technology for devastating results on gobblers.
For years, I’ve relied on a hodgepodge of choke tubes and load combinations, always chasing that elusive consistency. My old setup worked okay, but I was constantly tweaking, never fully satisfied.
The Carlsons Beretta/Benelli Mobil 12 Gauge Turkey Mobilchoke Black arrived in a simple, no-nonsense package. The black finish looked durable and the threads were clean and precise. Compared to my existing extended choke, the Carlsons choke appeared more aggressively ported. I was replacing a standard full choke, hoping for a noticeable improvement in pattern density. I was definitely excited to see if it lived up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting Carlsons Beretta/Benelli Mobil 12 Gauge Turkey Mobilchoke Black to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial test took place at my local shooting range, under ideal conditions. The weather was clear and calm, perfect for evaluating pattern performance. I set up targets at 30 and 40 yards, using the recommended Winchester Long Beard Turkey loads.
The first shot at 30 yards revealed a significantly tighter pattern than my old choke. Pellets were concentrated in a dense, even core, with fewer flyers. At 40 yards, the pattern remained lethal, with enough pellets to reliably take down a turkey. I didn’t need any time to get used to it, as the installation was easy and straightforward. The immediate improvement in pattern density was a pleasant surprise.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full turkey season, the Carlsons Beretta/Benelli Mobil 12 Gauge Turkey Mobilchoke Black has proven its worth. It endured several days of hard hunting in varying weather conditions, from damp mornings to dry afternoons. The black finish has held up well, showing no signs of wear or rust.
Cleaning is simple; a quick scrub with a bore brush and solvent keeps it in top condition. Compared to my previous choke setup, the Carlsons choke has provided greater consistency and confidence in the field. The difference in performance is undeniable.
