Let’s Talk About Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter
The Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter is designed to improve the taste and smell of drinking water in recreational vehicles and boats. Manufactured by Camco, this filter promises to remove chlorine and sediment, providing cleaner, better-tasting water for up to 120 days. Its RV and marine approval, along with CSA low lead content certification, immediately caught my attention.
My journey with RVing has taught me the importance of reliable water filtration. I have experienced the unpleasant realities of campground water – often heavily chlorinated or with a noticeable sediment taste. I sought a simple, effective solution to ensure that every sip from my RV tap tasted as good as the water back home.
Upon unboxing the Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter, my initial impression was positive. The filter felt solid and well-constructed, despite its relatively lightweight design. It was immediately clear that this was designed for easy installation and portability, crucial factors for RV and marine applications.
I considered other inline filters like the Culligan RV-800 and the Clear2O DirtGUARD RV Water Filter, both reputable options. However, I chose the Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter due to Camco’s reputation for RV accessories and the promised 120-day lifespan. The others seemed to require more frequent replacements, which can be a hassle on extended trips.
My first impression was optimistic; it appeared to be a practical and cost-effective solution to improving water quality on the go. The size and simplicity were particularly appealing. I was eager to put it to the test.
Real-World Testing: Putting Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter during a week-long camping trip at a state park with notoriously poor water quality. The water had a strong chlorine odor and a slight muddy taste prior to filtration.
The Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter was incredibly simple to install, easily attaching to the water hose connection. Immediately upon turning on the tap, I noticed a significant improvement; the chlorine smell was virtually gone, and the muddy taste had vanished.
The Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter performed admirably in this environment. There were no leaks or reductions in water pressure that I could detect.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of use, spanning multiple camping trips and boat outings, the Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter has held up surprisingly well. There are no visible signs of damage or wear, despite being subjected to various weather conditions and frequent handling.
The filter’s performance has remained consistent, though I have noticed a very slight reduction in water pressure towards the end of the recommended 120-day lifespan. Cleaning is virtually nonexistent, as it’s designed to be a disposable unit, which I appreciate.
Compared to my previous experiences with unfiltered water or using basic sediment filters, the Camco TastePURE RV & Marine Water Filter offers a marked improvement in water quality and peace of mind. I’d often rely on bottled water before, but this filter allows me to confidently use the RV’s water system for drinking and cooking. It has genuinely outperformed my expectations, especially considering its price point.
