First Impressions of Bubba Blade Extendable Net
The Bubba Blade Extendable Net promises to solve a common angler frustration: the fish that’s just out of reach. Bubba Blade is known for its durable, thoughtfully designed fishing tools, and this net appears to continue that tradition. I needed a reliable net with extra reach for kayak fishing, where maneuvering space is limited and landing a fish can be tricky.
Upon unboxing, the Bubba Blade Extendable Net feels solid and well-constructed. The iconic Bubba Blade non-slip grip is immediately noticeable and reassuring. Compared to my old, flimsy aluminum net, this one feels significantly more robust. I previously considered a cheaper, generic extendable net, but the reports of flimsy handles and easily tangled nets steered me towards the Bubba Blade product.
My initial impression is excitement tempered with cautious optimism; the build quality looks promising, but the real test will be how it performs on the water. The extension mechanism feels smooth, and the weight is manageable, but I’m eager to see how it handles a thrashing, sizable fish.
Real-World Testing: Putting Bubba Blade Extendable Net to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Bubba Blade Extendable Net during a weekend kayak fishing trip on a local reservoir. The weather was partly cloudy with a slight chop on the water. Using the net for the first time to land a feisty largemouth bass proved the Bubba Blade Extendable Net was a great tool.
The extendable feature proved invaluable when a larger fish ran towards the back of my kayak. The non-slip grip provided confidence even with wet hands, and the net’s depth was perfect for securing the fish without causing harm. After using the net to easily and effectively land the fish, I knew that I would trust the Bubba Blade brand again.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the Bubba Blade Extendable Net has held up exceptionally well. I’ve used it in both freshwater and saltwater environments without any signs of corrosion. The carbon fiber shaft still feels strong, and the extension mechanism remains smooth and reliable.
The PVC-coated nylon net has proven to be tangle-resistant and gentle on the fish, showing no signs of wear despite frequent use. Cleaning is simple; a quick rinse with fresh water is usually sufficient. Compared to my previous nets, which required constant untangling and eventually succumbed to rust, the Bubba Blade Extendable Net is a clear upgrade.

Performance & Functionality
The Bubba Blade Extendable Net excels at its primary function: landing fish. Its extendable handle allows for increased reach, making it ideal for situations where maneuverability is limited, such as kayak fishing or fishing from elevated banks. The net’s depth is well-suited for securing fish of various sizes, preventing them from escaping during the landing process.
The net performs exceptionally well, with only minor suggestions for improvement. While the extension mechanism is generally smooth, it can occasionally stick slightly when fully extended. Overall, the Bubba Blade Extendable Net significantly exceeds expectations.
Design & Ergonomics
The design of the Bubba Blade Extendable Net is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. The Bubba Blade signature non-slip grip provides a secure and comfortable hold, even in wet conditions. The weight is well-balanced, making it easy to maneuver the net with one hand.
The extendable handle locks securely into place, preventing unwanted retraction during use. The learning curve is minimal; the net is intuitive and easy to use right out of the box.
Durability & Maintenance
The Bubba Blade Extendable Net is built to last. The carbon fiber shaft and reinforced aluminum yoke provide exceptional strength and durability, while the PVC-coated nylon net is resistant to tears and abrasions. With proper care, this net should provide years of reliable service.
Maintenance is straightforward; simply rinse the net with fresh water after each use to remove salt and debris. The extension mechanism may require occasional lubrication to maintain smooth operation.
Accessories and Customization Options
The Bubba Blade Extendable Net doesn’t come with a vast array of accessories. However, the handle is designed to fit most standard rod holders, allowing for convenient storage when not in use. While customization options are limited, the net’s functionality and performance are excellent as is.
The Bubba Blade Extendable Net is compatible with most aftermarket net floats. The addition of a net float can provide added buoyancy, preventing the net from sinking if accidentally dropped overboard.
