Let’s Talk About Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope
The Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope promises high-end target scope features without the premium price tag. This scope is designed with features tailored for precision rifle competitions, making it appealing to shooters looking for performance and value. Brownells aimed to deliver innovations in optics at a price point accessible for Production Class competitors, and the initial specs certainly suggest they’ve done just that.
My journey to finding the Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope stemmed from a desire to upgrade my aging optic on my precision AR-10. I needed a scope that could handle longer ranges, provide excellent clarity, and offer precise adjustments without breaking the bank. I wanted a scope that could stand up to the rigors of regular range use and potentially some local PRS-style matches.
Unboxing the Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope revealed a solid, well-built optic. The weight (37 oz) felt substantial, indicating quality materials, and the matte black finish gave it a tactical look. The turrets felt positive and the zoom ring was smooth, suggesting a high level of craftsmanship.
I was also considering the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25×50 and the Athlon Argos BTR Gen2 6-24×50. Ultimately, the promise of edge-blackened Japanese glass and the unique N-OMR reticle swayed me towards the Brownells offering. I was hoping the reticle would offer a distinct advantage in rapid target acquisition and minimal target obstruction.
My initial impression was excitement. This scope seemed to offer a compelling blend of features and affordability. If the performance matched the promise, I felt confident it could be a game-changer for my long-range shooting.
Real-World Testing: Putting Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope to the Test
First Use Experience
I tested the Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope primarily at my local shooting range, which offers distances out to 600 yards. I mounted it on my AR-10 using a quality one-piece mount. I used the scope to engage steel targets at varying distances, focusing on clarity, tracking, and reticle usability.
The weather was clear and sunny for the first range trip. The scope performed admirably, providing a bright, clear image even at maximum magnification. The turrets were easy to adjust and provided positive, audible clicks. I found the N-OMR reticle intuitive, allowing for fast target acquisition and minimal obstruction, especially when engaging multiple targets.
The only minor issue I noticed was that the parallax adjustment was a bit sensitive at shorter distances. It took a little fiddling to get the image perfectly crisp below 100 yards. Otherwise, the initial experience was overwhelmingly positive.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of consistent use, the Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope has held up exceptionally well. I’ve taken it to the range at least twice a month and have even used it in a couple of informal shooting competitions.
The scope has proven to be quite durable. Despite a few bumps and scrapes during transport, the finish has held up well, and there has been no shift in zero. I clean the lenses regularly with a microfiber cloth and lens cleaning solution. I also occasionally wipe down the exterior with a damp cloth to remove any dirt or grime.
Compared to my previous optic, a budget-friendly Bushnell, the Brownells Match Precision Optic 5-25x56mm Rifle Scope is in a different league altogether. The clarity, precision, and overall build quality are significantly superior. This scope has instilled a newfound confidence in my long-range shooting capabilities.
