The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock At One Thumbhole Savage Axis Detachable Box Mag Short Action RH Act FBC offers Savage Axis owners a significant upgrade in both aesthetics and ergonomics. This aftermarket stock replaces the factory stock, providing a more comfortable and customizable shooting experience. With its thumbhole design, factory barrel channel, and choice of attractive Applejack finish, it’s designed to enhance both the look and feel of your rifle.
I was looking for a stock that would improve my accuracy and provide a more comfortable grip while hunting. The factory stock on my Savage Axis felt cheap and flimsy, hindering my ability to maintain a steady hold, especially in colder weather. I wanted something that looked good and also improved my shooting experience.
Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the appearance of the Boyds stock. The Applejack finish is striking, and the thumbhole design felt natural in my hand. The wood felt solid and well-crafted, a definite step up from the synthetic stock I was replacing.
I considered a couple of other options before settling on the Boyds stock. I looked at a similar stock from Manners Composite Stocks, but its higher price point made it less appealing. I also considered a Hogue OverMolded stock, but I preferred the classic look and feel of wood over rubber.
My first impression was excitement and anticipation. I couldn’t wait to get it installed on my Savage Axis and see how it improved my shooting. The stock felt lighter than I anticipated based on previous feedback.
