The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Rifle Stock At One Thumbhole Savage 10 BBR Detachable Mag Short Action FBC is more than just a replacement stock; it’s a significant upgrade in ergonomics and aesthetics for your Savage 10 short action rifle. Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks, known for their quality and craftsmanship, delivers a product that blends classic design with modern adjustability. The “At One” designation signifies the stock’s adjustable features, allowing for a personalized fit that enhances shooting comfort and accuracy.
My trusty Savage 10, a workhorse I’ve had for years, had a functional but rather uninspiring synthetic stock. I was looking for something that not only improved the rifle’s feel and handling, but also added a touch of class. The promise of enhanced ergonomics and the classic appeal of hardwood drew me to this particular stock.
The stock arrived well-packaged, immediately revealing the attractive Applejack laminate finish. The weight felt substantial and balanced, a clear indication of the quality of the wood and construction. The thumbhole design felt natural in my hand, and the adjustable cheek rest and length-of-pull adjustments were simple and intuitive.
I considered several other stocks, including offerings from Bell and Carlson and Magpul. The Bell and Carlson provided a similar level of adjustability but lacked the warmth and character of a hardwood stock. The Magpul options leaned more towards tactical aesthetics, which wasn’t the look I was going for. Ultimately, the Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks stock offered the best blend of adjustability, classic design, and value.
My initial impression was overwhelmingly positive. The stock not only looked great but also felt incredibly comfortable and well-built. It was exactly the upgrade my Savage 10 needed, promising a more enjoyable and accurate shooting experience.
