This stock aims to enhance both the accuracy and ergonomics of the rifle, providing a solid platform for varmint hunting and precision shooting.
For years, I’d been struggling with the factory stock on my Sako 85, finding it lacking in adjustability and stability for prone shooting. I needed a stock that would provide a more consistent and comfortable shooting experience, particularly when targeting smaller varmints at longer ranges.
Upon receiving the Boyds stock, I was immediately struck by the heft and solid feel of the hardwood. The black textured paint provided a tactile grip, and the overall build quality appeared to be significantly better than the injection-molded factory stock.
I considered stocks from Manners and McMillan, known for their composite construction and high price tags. Ultimately, I chose the Boyds stock because it offered a similar level of stability and accuracy potential at a much more accessible price point.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The Boyds Hardwood Gunstocks Pro Varmint Centerfire Sako 85 S Short Action Detachable Box Mag Factory Barrel Channel Stock seemed well-made and promised to solve the ergonomic issues I was experiencing.
