Let’s Dive into BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks
The BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks promise to be a game-changer for hunters and shooters seeking a stable and quiet platform. Manufactured by BOG, these shooting sticks aim to improve accuracy in various shooting positions. The key feature that immediately grabbed my attention was the “Dead Silent” aspect, a crucial factor when stealth is paramount.
My need for these shooting sticks arose from persistent challenges during deer hunts in dense woodland. Finding stable shooting positions was always a struggle, often leading to compromised shots. I was searching for a lightweight, portable, and, most importantly, silent shooting aid.
Upon unboxing the BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks, I was immediately impressed by their lightweight construction. The aluminum felt robust yet surprisingly light. The non-marring finish gave off a sense of durability and practicality.
I was also considering the Primos Trigger Stick Gen 3 Tripod and the Vanguard Equalizer 1QS Bipod. Ultimately, I chose the BogPod DSS due to its simplicity, lightweight design, and the promise of quiet operation. The others seemed bulkier and potentially noisier.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The lightweight nature and silent features were promising. I was eager to put them to the test in the field and see if they lived up to the hype.
Real-World Testing: Putting BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks to the Test
First Use Experience
I first tested the BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks at my local shooting range and during a weekend deer hunt in the Appalachian Mountains. The range offered a controlled environment to assess stability and adjustability, while the hunt presented a more realistic and challenging scenario. The BogPod DSS handled both scenarios effectively.
The sticks performed admirably in both dry and slightly damp conditions. However, I did not have an opportunity to test them in truly adverse weather. The smooth, weather-resistant finish appeared as though it would hold up well. Using the sticks felt intuitive after a few practice setups. I quickly got accustomed to adjusting the height and finding stable positions.
Initially, I was surprised by how much steadier my shots became. It’s an almost instant improvement when compared to shooting unsupported. I initially worried about the single-point support, but it proved surprisingly stable.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use during multiple hunting trips and range sessions, the BogPod DSS Dead Silent Shooting Sticks have proven to be a reliable asset. The aluminum construction has held up well with no noticeable bending or damage. The finish also shows no signs of scratching or wear.
Despite constant use and occasional bumps against trees and rocks, the sticks have remained in excellent condition. They clean up easily with a damp cloth. The simple design means there are few nooks and crannies for dirt and debris to accumulate.
Compared to my previous experiences using improvised shooting rests, the BogPod DSS has been a massive improvement. It is far more stable, adaptable, and quiet. They have definitely boosted my confidence in taking ethical shots in the field.
