The Birchwood Casey BC-46322 World of Made a Bold First Impression
The Birchwood Casey BC-46322 World of Qualifier Spinner Target aims to bring the fun of reactive shooting to .22 rimfire enthusiasts. Manufactured by Birchwood Casey, this target promises to hone your skills with its three progressively smaller spinning discs. I was immediately drawn to the promise of convenient, instant feedback at the range, a welcome departure from constantly walking downrange to check paper targets.
My search for a portable and engaging target system for my .22 pistol led me to the Birchwood Casey spinner. Frustrated with static paper targets, I wanted something that offered immediate feedback and challenged my precision. Unboxing the BC-46322, I found a compact, steel target with three sticker-covered spinning discs of varying sizes. The construction felt solid enough, though admittedly smaller than I initially pictured.
Compared to other reactive targets like auto-resetting steel targets which can be expensive and bulky, or even simple plastic bottles, the Birchwood Casey offered a compelling balance of portability and challenge. While I considered a more robust AR500 steel target, the price point and .22-specific design of the BC-46322 made it a more appealing entry into reactive shooting. My initial reaction was optimistic, a mix of curiosity and anticipation to see if this compact spinner could really improve my accuracy.
Real-World Testing: Putting Birchwood Casey BC-46322 World of to the Test
First Use Experience
I took the Birchwood Casey BC-46322 World of Qualifier Spinner Target to my local outdoor shooting range, setting it up at a distance of 25 yards. The weather was clear and sunny, ideal for target practice. Using my Ruger Mark IV pistol, I started with the largest disc, quickly getting a feel for the satisfying ting and spin upon a successful hit.
The spinner performed admirably, providing instant visual confirmation of each shot. Even in the bright sunlight, the spinning discs were easily visible. The target proved to be more challenging than I anticipated, particularly the smallest disc which required precise aiming.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Birchwood Casey spinner has held up surprisingly well. I bring it with me at least twice a week when practicing with my .22. While the original stickers inevitably wore out, a coat of spray paint, as suggested by other users, proved to be a great solution.
The steel frame has shown no signs of bending or damage, even after numerous impacts. Maintaining the target is simple; a quick wipe down with a cloth keeps it clean. Compared to my previous reliance on paper targets, the BC-46322 has significantly improved my practice sessions by making them more engaging and providing instant feedback on my shot placement.
