Let’s Talk About Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands
The Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands promises a comfortable and secure hunting experience for two. Marketed as a robust and spacious platform, it caters to hunters who value comfort and stability during long hours in the stand. Big Game Treestands aims to deliver a reliable product with features like a padded shooting rail, Flex-Tek seat, and a substantial weight capacity.
For years, I’ve been using single-person stands, often feeling cramped and restricted during extended hunts. I needed a stand capable of accommodating myself and my son, allowing us to share the experience safely and comfortably. The allure of the Big Buddy’s spacious platform and high weight capacity drew me in.
The stand arrived well-packaged, albeit in a rather large box. Assembling it was a bit of a task, requiring a few hours and a helping hand, but the powder-coated steel construction felt solid and durable. The Flex-Tek seats seemed promisingly comfortable, and the adjustable shooting rail offered a customizable shooting rest.
I considered the Millennium L-220 and the Rivers Edge Lockdown 2-Man Ladderstand. However, the Big Buddy’s price point and advertised weight capacity made it the more appealing option. I wanted something that would provide a stable and safe hunting experience for myself and my son, without breaking the bank.
Initial impressions were positive. The Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands felt sturdy and well-built. I was excited to finally have a stand that allowed me to comfortably share hunting experiences with my son.
Real-World Testing: Putting Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands was during the early archery season in the Appalachian foothills. I tested it in relatively mild, dry conditions. Setting it up required some patience, but once secured, it felt remarkably stable.
The Flex-Tek seat lived up to its promise, providing excellent comfort during a four-hour sit. The padded shooting rail was a welcome addition, offering a steady rest for my bow. My only initial concern was the audible creaking of the stand as we shifted our weight.
Extended Use & Reliability
After a full season of use, the Big Game Treestands Big Buddy 16ft Ladderstands has proven to be a reliable hunting platform. The powder-coated finish has held up well, showing minimal signs of wear despite exposure to rain and frost. Regular lubrication of the joints has minimized the creaking.
Maintenance is straightforward: a quick wipe down after each use and an occasional application of rust inhibitor. Compared to my previous experience with cheaper, flimsier stands, the Big Buddy offers a significantly more secure and comfortable hunting experience. It is a worthwhile upgrade in terms of stability and space.
