Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife Review

First Impressions of Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife

The Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife immediately struck me as a serious contender in the EDC (Everyday Carry) knife market. Manufactured by Bestech Knives, this knife boasts a MagnaCut steel blade, known for its exceptional balance of hardness, toughness, and corrosion resistance, along with a visually striking Jade/Black G10 handle. It’s a combination that promises both performance and style, sparking curiosity about how it would hold up in real-world use.

I was looking for a dependable folding knife that could handle a variety of tasks, from opening packages and cutting rope to more demanding outdoor applications. I wanted something with a blade that would hold an edge well and a handle that would provide a secure and comfortable grip.

The Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife arrived in a simple, yet functional box. Upon opening it, the first thing I noticed was the smooth action of the blade. The knife has a satisfying weight, not too heavy to be cumbersome, but substantial enough to feel solid and well-built. The Jade/Black G10 handle is visually appealing and provides a surprisingly secure grip.

I was also considering the Benchmade Bugout and the Spyderco Para 3 Lightweight. The Bugout is known for its incredibly light weight, but I wanted something with a slightly more robust feel. The Para 3 Lightweight is a great knife, but the Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife’s MagnaCut steel and unique handle color swayed my decision.

My initial impression was one of excitement. The knife appeared to be well-made and thoughtfully designed. I was eager to see how it would perform during testing.

Real-World Testing: Putting Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing ground for the Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife was a weekend camping trip in the Appalachian Mountains. I used it for various tasks, including food preparation, cutting paracord, and whittling small pieces of wood for kindling.

The knife performed admirably in wet conditions. Even with damp hands, the G10 handle provided a secure grip. I did not need time to get used to the knife. The action was smooth and intuitive from the start.

The only minor issue was the satin finish on the blade, which showed some smudging after handling greasy food. This was easily wiped clean.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife has proven to be a reliable and durable tool. There are no signs of blade play or loosening of the handle scales. The edge retention of the MagnaCut steel has been exceptional, requiring minimal sharpening.

Despite being used regularly for various tasks, the knife shows very little wear and tear. The G10 handle is resistant to scratches and impacts. Cleaning is simple. A quick wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove dirt and grime.

I’ve owned several other folding knives in this price range, and the Bestech Knives Swordfish 4in MagnaCut Folding Knife outperforms them in terms of edge retention, handle comfort, and overall build quality. I’m very impressed with this Bestech Knives product.
