Let’s Talk About Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope
The Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope promises a lot for crossbow hunters seeking a versatile optic. From the renowned Bear X brand, it boasts a variable 1-5x magnification, a 24mm objective lens, and illuminated reticle in a robust 30mm tube.
My aging eyes and the increasing need for precision at varying distances in the woods spurred my search for a new crossbow scope. I needed something that could offer a wide field of view at lower magnifications for close-range encounters, but still provide the ability to zoom in for those longer shots across open fields.
The Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope arrived well-packaged. My initial impression was positive, the scope felt solid and well-built. The matte black finish looked durable and the magnification ring turned smoothly.
I considered the Hawke XB1 1-5×24 SR and the Nikon Bolt XR, but chose the Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope based on its competitive price point and the positive early user feedback I had seen. It seemed to offer a good balance of features and value.
I was excited to mount the Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope and get it sighted in. I had a feeling it would drastically improve my accuracy and confidence in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope to the Test
First Use Experience
I initially tested the Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope at my local archery range, which offers distances out to 60 yards. The weather was clear and sunny, ideal conditions for sighting in a new optic. Mounting was straightforward using standard 30mm rings.
The scope performed admirably in the bright conditions. The illuminated reticle, though, really shined in the late evening as light diminished. After a few minor adjustments, it was dead-on from 20 to 40 yards as the initial user feedback stated.
There were no major issues, though the reticle illumination at its highest setting seemed a bit too bright in the low light. I easily adjusted it to a lower setting.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use and around 100 shots fired with the Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope, it has consistently held zero. I have not needed to make any further adjustments. It has proven to be reliable and accurate.
The finish shows no signs of wear, even after being bumped around in my crossbow case. The scope body seems robust and resistant to scratches. Cleaning the lenses is easy with a standard lens cloth.
Compared to my previous fixed-power scope, the Bear X Speed Comp 1-5 x 24mm Scope is a massive upgrade. The variable magnification has drastically improved my ability to make accurate shots at varying distances.
