Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind Review

First Impressions of Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind

The Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind is a minimalist approach to concealment, promising quick setup and portability. Made by Barronett Blinds, this panel blind aims to solve the issue of bulky, heavy blinds for mobile hunters. It piqued my interest as someone who values the ability to quickly adapt to changing game patterns.

I was seeking a lightweight and easily deployable blind solution that wouldn’t break the bank. I’ve tried lugging full-sized pop-up blinds, and the hassle often outweighs the benefits when I’m covering ground. Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by its lightness and the seemingly durable fabric.

Compared to a traditional A-frame blind or even a ghillie suit, the Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind offers a balance between concealment and mobility. I chose it over a full blind for its packability and simplicity, and over a ghillie suit for its ability to provide a more consistent backdrop. My initial excitement centered around the potential for rapid deployment and effective concealment without the cumbersome nature of a full-sized blind.

Real-World Testing: Putting Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind on a recent turkey hunt in the Appalachian foothills. The terrain was uneven, with patches of dense underbrush and scattered hardwoods. Setting it up for the first time was surprisingly quick.

Despite a light drizzle, the fabric seemed adequately water-resistant. The height adjustability proved crucial, allowing me to adapt the blind to the varying ground level. Initially, I struggled slightly with perfectly aligning the stakes in the rocky soil, but once secured, the blind felt stable.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use during turkey season and early deer scouting, the Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of tearing or significant wear, even after being packed and unpacked multiple times. Cleaning off mud and vegetation has been relatively easy with a damp cloth.

Compared to past experiences with cheaper ground blinds, the Barronett Blinds Field Shield Portable Hunting Panel Blind definitely outperforms them in terms of portability and ease of setup. The fabric’s durability is also noteworthy. I am confident it will last several seasons with proper care.
