30846 32% Off represent Barnes’s commitment to precision and consistency in ammunition manufacturing. Designed for long-distance target shooting and competitive shooting, these rounds promise match-grade performance, a claim I was eager to verify through rigorous testing. The buzz around the temperature-stable propellants and first-quality brass had me particularly curious.
My quest for consistent and accurate ammunition started after a string of disappointing performances at local rifle matches. I needed ammunition that could deliver tight groupings at longer distances, eliminating any doubt about my ammo’s performance. The promise of match-grade quality and the Barnes name were enticing enough to give these rounds a shot.
My first impression of the Barnes Precision Match rounds was positive, noting the clean, consistent appearance of the brass casings and the precise seating of the bullets. The rounds felt well-made, inspiring confidence in their potential performance. The packaging was functional and straightforward, providing sufficient protection for the cartridges.
Compared to other match-grade ammunition I’ve used, such as Federal Gold Medal Match and Hornady Match, the Barnes offering was competitively priced, especially with the advertised discount. I chose the Barnes rounds hoping for comparable or superior performance at a slightly more accessible price point. I wanted to see if I could achieve similar results without breaking the bank.
I was cautiously optimistic, but mostly excited to try these out. My initial thoughts centered around achieving repeatable accuracy and tighter groupings at 300-600 yards. If these rounds could deliver on their promise, they would be a game-changer for my competitive shooting.

First Use Experience
I first tested the Barnes Precision Match rounds at my local shooting range, setting up targets at 100, 300, and 500 yards. The weather was clear and mild, providing optimal conditions for accuracy testing. I used my custom AR-15 with a 20-inch barrel and a high-quality optic.
The rounds performed admirably under these conditions, showing consistent velocities and tight groupings. At 100 yards, I was able to achieve sub-MOA groupings with relative ease. The performance remained consistent out to 300 and 500 yards, with minimal deviation.
The rounds chambered smoothly and ejected cleanly with no noticeable issues. There were no failures to feed or extract, adding to the overall positive experience. The recoil felt manageable and consistent, further contributing to accurate follow-up shots.
The only slight surprise was the relatively clean burn of the propellant, leaving minimal residue in my rifle’s action. This made cleaning afterwards much easier than I anticipated. This ease of maintenance was a welcome bonus.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the Barnes Precision Match rounds continue to perform consistently and reliably. I have fired approximately 500 rounds with no malfunctions. The ammunition has proven durable and dependable in various shooting sessions.
There are no noticeable signs of wear and tear on the brass casings after firing, suggesting high-quality materials and manufacturing processes. The casings remain reloadable, adding value for those who enjoy reloading their own ammunition. This is a huge benefit in the long run.
Cleaning and maintaining my rifle after using these rounds remains straightforward, thanks to the relatively clean burn of the propellant. I’ve noticed no significant build-up of residue or fouling. The rounds continue to impress with their reliability and ease of maintenance.
Compared to my previous experiences with other match-grade ammunitions, the Barnes Precision Match rounds hold their own. They offer comparable accuracy and reliability at a competitive price point. I’m very satisfied with their performance.
