Let’s Talk About Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill
The Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill, manufactured by Umarex USA, is a small but essential component for maintaining the performance of your PCP hand pump. This seemingly simple product plays a crucial role in preventing moisture from entering your PCP airgun, ensuring its longevity and consistent performance. It’s a small price to pay for protecting a potentially expensive investment.
My journey to discovering the need for a product like the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill stemmed from a frustrating experience. I noticed my PCP air rifle’s velocity was fluctuating, and I suspected moisture contamination. After some research, I realized the importance of dry air in PCP systems.
Upon receiving the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill, I was immediately impressed by its simplicity and practicality. It’s a no-frills package, but the desiccant material felt substantial and ready for action. I’ve used similar desiccant products in gun safes and for camera equipment, and this felt comparable in quality.
When considering alternatives, I looked at creating my own desiccant system using bulk silica gel. However, the convenience and pre-packaged nature of the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill ultimately won me over. Competing pre-packaged options were similarly priced, making Umarex’s offering an easy choice due to brand recognition and availability.
My first impression was one of relief. Knowing I had a readily available and affordable solution to combat moisture contamination was reassuring. I was excited to implement it and see the positive impact on my PCP air rifle’s performance.
Real-World Testing: Putting Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill to the Test
First Use Experience
My primary testing ground for the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill was my backyard shooting range and the occasional trip to a local outdoor range. I installed the refill into my Umarex PCP hand pump and immediately noticed a difference in the perceived “dryness” of the air being pumped into my rifle. It’s subtle, but you can almost feel the difference.
I tested the system in varying conditions, including humid summer days and cooler, drier autumn evenings. The humid days are when the dry-pack truly shines. The Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill effectively absorbed moisture, preventing it from entering my airgun.
Replacing the old desiccant was straightforward. It didn’t require any special tools or expertise, and the pump continued operating smoothly. There were no hiccups or issues during the replacement process.
Extended Use & Reliability
After three months of consistent use, the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill has held up admirably. I haven’t observed any noticeable degradation in its moisture-absorbing capabilities. Regular checks show the desiccant still appearing dry, suggesting it’s performing its job effectively.
I have yet to notice any wear and tear on the surrounding hand pump components directly attributable to the dry pack. Maintenance involves a simple visual inspection every few weeks. It’s a simple task, and there’s little else to do.
Compared to my previous practice of neglecting moisture control, the Axeon UX Dry-Pack Refill offers a clear advantage. My airgun’s velocity remains consistent, and I have greater confidence in its long-term reliability. It easily outperforms the “do nothing” strategy I was using before!
