As an experienced outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless ammunition types come and go, each promising superior performance. The Atomic Ammunition Atomic Ammo .223 Rem. 77gr. Match Sierra Bthp 50-pack
00427 19% Off piqued my interest due to its claims of sub-MOA accuracy at a competitive price point, utilizing high-quality components like new brass and Sierra BTHP bullets. This ammunition aims to bridge the gap between budget-friendly plinking ammo and premium match-grade options.
My primary need was to find a consistent and accurate .223 Remington load for both practice and potential competition use. I was tired of inconsistencies in cheaper bulk ammo and wanted something I could rely on for precise shot placement at longer ranges.
Upon receiving the Atomic Ammunition, the first thing I noticed was the clean, consistent appearance of the rounds. The brass was polished, and the Sierra BTHP bullets looked uniform and well-seated. The overall build quality exuded a sense of attention to detail that you don’t always find in ammunition at this price.
Compared to other match-grade .223 options I’ve used, like Black Hills Gold or Federal Gold Medal, the Atomic Ammunition is noticeably more affordable. I also considered some hand-loaded options, but the consistency and convenience of factory ammunition won me over. My initial impression was cautiously optimistic – excited to see if the on-paper specifications translated into real-world performance.

First Use Experience
My initial testing took place at an outdoor shooting range with distances ranging from 100 to 300 yards. The weather conditions were fairly mild, with a slight breeze and temperatures in the mid-60s. I tested the ammunition in my AR-15 platform rifle, equipped with a 16-inch barrel and a 1:7 twist rate.
The Atomic Ammunition fed smoothly and reliably, with no malfunctions of any kind. Recoil felt manageable, and the report was consistent from shot to shot. After the first few rounds, I started to focus on accuracy.
To my surprise, the initial groupings at 100 yards were promising, hovering around 0.75 MOA. There were no unusual pressure signs or inconsistencies. The only surprise was how quickly the rounds vanished.
Extended Use & Reliability
Over the next several weeks, I put several hundred rounds of the Atomic Ammunition through my rifle. I experienced no issues with feeding, extraction, or ignition. The ammunition proved to be remarkably consistent.
Even after being stored in various conditions (ranging from warm to cool environments), the ammunition performed consistently. I observed no degradation in performance or changes in point of impact. Compared to some cheaper ammunition I’ve used in the past, which can suffer from powder inconsistencies or primer issues, the Atomic Ammunition held up exceptionally well.
Maintenance was minimal, as with any centerfire ammunition. I cleaned my rifle thoroughly after each range session, and the Atomic Ammunition didn’t leave excessive fouling or residue. It significantly outperformed my expectations.

Specifications
The Atomic Ammunition Atomic Ammo .223 Rem. 77gr. Match Sierra Bthp 50-pack boasts several key specifications:
- Caliber: .223 Remington. This is a widely popular and versatile caliber suitable for various applications, from target shooting to varmint hunting.
- Bullet Weight: 77 grain. The heavier bullet weight helps to improve ballistic coefficient, making it less susceptible to wind drift and providing better long-range stability.
- Bullet Type: Sierra BTHP (Boat Tail Hollow Point). Sierra MatchKing bullets are known for their exceptional accuracy and consistent performance.
- Cartridge Case Material: Brass. Brass cases are reloadable and offer excellent reliability.
- Muzzle Velocity: 2600 ft/s. This velocity provides a flat trajectory and sufficient energy for target engagement at moderate distances.
- Primer Style: Centerfire. Centerfire primers are more reliable and consistent than rimfire primers.
- Number of Rounds: 50. A convenient quantity for range sessions or competition preparation.
These specifications are vital because they directly influence accuracy, consistency, and overall shooting experience. The combination of a heavy, high-quality bullet and new brass contributes to the ammunition’s sub-MOA accuracy claims.
Performance & Functionality
The Atomic Ammunition Atomic Ammo .223 Rem. 77gr. Match Sierra Bthp 50-pack performs exceptionally well. Its accuracy is the standout feature.
At 100 yards, I consistently achieved groupings of 0.75 MOA or better with my rifle. At 300 yards, the groups opened up slightly to around 1.25 MOA, but that’s still very respectable for factory ammunition. One minor point is the velocity variance. My chronograph clocked an average velocity slightly lower than the advertised 2600 ft/s, closer to 2550 ft/s, which could impact long-range ballistics slightly.
Overall, it meets and exceeds my expectations, providing excellent accuracy and consistent performance at a reasonable price.
Design & Ergonomics
The design of the ammunition is straightforward but effective. The rounds are clean, well-assembled, and visually appealing.
The brass cases are polished and free of blemishes. The bullets are uniformly seated and crimped. There’s no learning curve. Simply load and shoot.
Durability & Maintenance
The ammunition is designed for single-use and does not require any special maintenance. The brass cases can be reloaded, extending their useful life and saving money in the long run.
With proper storage in a cool, dry place, this ammunition should last for many years without any degradation in performance.

The Atomic Ammunition Atomic Ammo .223 Rem. 77gr. Match Sierra Bthp 50-pack doesn’t come with any specific accessories. However, its performance can be further enhanced by using high-quality optics and a well-maintained rifle.
