Let’s Dive into ATN Extended Power Battery Kit
The ATN Extended Power Battery Kit promises to drastically extend the life of your ATN Smart HD optics, and as someone who relies on that technology in the field, I was eager to put it to the test. ATN, known for their innovative approach to night vision and thermal optics, aims to eliminate the hassle of constantly swapping AA batteries with this kit. This is especially crucial for extended hunts or tactical scenarios where uninterrupted power is paramount.
My foray into the world of smart optics was driven by a need for enhanced nighttime visibility during hog hunts. AA batteries were simply not cutting it. They drained quickly, leading to frustrating interruptions and missed opportunities.
Upon unboxing the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit, I was immediately impressed by the solid feel of the battery pack and the seemingly durable construction of the buttstock pouch. The matte black finish blends seamlessly with most tactical gear. The weight felt substantial, but not overly burdensome, suggesting a robust battery inside.
I considered several other options, including generic USB power banks and DIY battery solutions. However, I chose the ATN kit for its integrated design, buttstock mounting system, and the promise of a water-resistant connection – features that offered a level of convenience and reliability I couldn’t find elsewhere.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. While the components looked well-made, I was eager to see if the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit would truly deliver on its promise of extended runtime and hassle-free operation in the field.
Real-World Testing: Putting ATN Extended Power Battery Kit to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial field test of the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit took place during a weekend-long hog hunt in central Texas. The terrain was varied, encompassing open fields, dense brush, and creek crossings. This offered a diverse environment to evaluate its performance.
Throughout the hunt, which included several hours of nighttime glassing and observation in damp conditions, the battery pack performed flawlessly. There was no noticeable drop in power to my ATN X-Sight 4K Pro. It was far superior compared to the constant worry of battery life with standard AA’s.
The ATN Extended Power Battery Kit was remarkably easy to use. The buttstock pouch securely attached to my AR-15, keeping the battery pack out of the way while maintaining easy access. No time was spent fumbling with cables or swapping batteries. After the first night, I had no issues or surprises, and my confidence was boosted.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, including multiple hunting trips, range sessions, and even a week-long camping excursion, the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit continues to perform admirably. It has proven to be a reliable power source for my ATN optic.
Despite being subjected to dust, mud, and occasional light rain, the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit shows minimal signs of wear and tear. The buttstock pouch is holding up well, and the water-resistant seal around the cord access port seems to be doing its job.
Cleaning the battery pack and pouch is straightforward, requiring only a damp cloth and mild soap. Compared to constantly replacing AA batteries, which was both costly and time-consuming, the ATN Extended Power Battery Kit has been a significant improvement in terms of convenience and long-term cost savings.
