Let’s Talk About Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling
The Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling is more than just a strap; it’s a purpose-built tool designed for the modern rifleman. Manufactured by Armageddon Gear, a company known for its focus on simplicity, durability, and combat-proven performance, this sling promises to be a reliable partner in any tactical situation. I was looking for a sling that could seamlessly transition between single-point and two-point configurations, offering maximum versatility in dynamic shooting scenarios.
I first encountered Armageddon Gear products through their renowned precision rifle slings, witnessing their ruggedness firsthand during various long-range shooting courses. This positive experience immediately drew me to their carbine sling offering. Upon unboxing, the immediate impression was one of quality; the materials felt robust and well-stitched, promising long-lasting durability. The sling felt lightweight, yet substantial enough to inspire confidence.
Having used slings from Magpul, Blue Force Gear, and Viking Tactics, the Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling stood out due to its convertible design and use of high-quality components like the stainless steel QD swivels. While the Magpul MS4 offers similar convertibility, the Armageddon Gear sling’s bungee section and overall construction seemed more robust. I ultimately chose the Armageddon Gear option for its perceived superior durability and the reputation of the Armageddon Gear brand.
Initial excitement was my primary feeling. This seemed like a well-thought-out piece of kit. The bungee element was a welcome surprise. It promised to reduce felt weight and improve comfort during extended carry.
Real-World Testing: Putting Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground was a three-day carbine course held at a local shooting range. We engaged in various drills, from rapid target acquisition to transitioning between shooting positions. The sling was subjected to constant use in both two-point and single-point configurations. The course involved operating in sunny conditions, with temperatures hovering around 85 degrees Fahrenheit, and a fair amount of dust.
The Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling performed admirably. The sling allowed smooth transitions between different carry methods. The bungee section provided noticeable shock absorption when moving quickly. I did find that adjusting the sling length on the fly required a bit of practice. After a few repetitions, it became more intuitive.
After the first day, I noticed some minor fraying on one of the adjustment straps. I was initially concerned. However, this did not worsen over the next two days, suggesting it was merely a cosmetic issue.
Extended Use & Reliability
After six months of regular use, including weekly range sessions and two additional carbine courses, the Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling has proven to be remarkably durable. There are some minor cosmetic blemishes. However, there are no signs of structural weakness. The QD swivels remain secure, and the stitching is holding up well.
Regular cleaning with a damp cloth has been sufficient to remove dirt and grime. I have not needed to use any specialized cleaning products. The bungee section retains its elasticity. I found that other slings I have used needed specialized care but the Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling has been simple to maintain.
Compared to my previous sling experiences, the Armageddon Gear Convertible Carbine Sling has exceeded expectations in terms of comfort, durability, and versatility. Its robust construction and thoughtful design make it a reliable choice for demanding applications.
