Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 Review

First Impressions of Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699

Fine-tuning arrow flight is an obsession for any serious archer, and that’s why I was immediately intrigued by the Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699. These aren’t just any weights; they’re designed to work with Altra arrows, offering a way to precisely adjust front-of-center (F.O.C.) and ultimately, downrange accuracy. This promises the potential for tighter groupings and more ethical harvests.

My quest for these weights began when I noticed inconsistent arrow flight with a new batch of arrows. I was chasing that perfect balance between speed and stability and had read that adjusting F.O.C. was key. Other options existed, like weighted broadheads or heavier points, but the Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 system appealed to me because of its fine-tuning capabilities and the promise of a more balanced arrow build. Compared to using weighted sleeves, this promised to be much more streamlined.

Upon unboxing, the weights themselves appear well-machined and uniform. Their silver finish gives them a clean, professional look. My initial reaction was excitement – finally, a solution to dial in my arrow setup perfectly!

Real-World Testing: Putting Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 to the Test

First Use Experience

My first experience with the Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 took place at my local archery range. I was testing different weight configurations at 20, 30, and 40 yards. Initial testing was during a relatively calm day with temperatures around 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

The most immediate change was in the arrow’s dynamic spine – adding weight to the front tamed some fishtailing I’d been experiencing. I found that even small adjustments of 10 grains made a noticeable difference at the longer distances. There were no immediate issues or surprises, other than the expected need to recalibrate my sight.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, the Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 have held up remarkably well. I’ve noticed no signs of loosening or deformation, even after repeated impacts into dense targets. Cleaning and maintenance are virtually non-existent, which is a huge plus.

Compared to my previous attempts at fine-tuning arrow weight using brass inserts and glue, these weights are a game-changer in terms of consistency and ease of adjustment. They have exceeded my expectations. The Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 have proven to be incredibly reliable.

Breaking Down the Features of Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699

Specifications

The Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 boasts several key specifications:

• Compatibility: Designed for Altra arrows larger than 166 diameter. This ensures a snug and secure fit within the arrow shaft.
• Weight Options: Available in 10, 20, and 50-grain increments. This allows for precise customization of F.O.C.
• Stackable Design: The weights can be stacked for infinite weight adjustment. This gives the archer complete control over the final arrow weight.
• Material: Silver-finished metal (likely aluminum or steel, though the exact material isn’t specified). This material offers a good balance of weight and durability.
• Quantity: Comes in a 12-pack quantity. This allows for weighting multiple arrows.

These specifications matter because they directly impact the arrow’s flight characteristics. More weight upfront generally increases stability and penetration. Having the option to stack the weights is key for achieving the desired F.O.C. without needing multiple types of points.

Performance & Functionality

The Altra Arrows Non Micro Insert Weight 1501699 performs its intended function exceptionally well. The weights allow for accurate and repeatable arrow weight adjustments. This leads to more consistent groups and better downrange accuracy.

The main strength is the ease with which you can experiment with different arrow setups. One area for improvement would be more detailed instructions on optimal F.O.C. ranges for different arrow types and shooting scenarios. Overall, the weights have met and exceeded my expectations.

Design & Ergonomics

The build quality is excellent, with the weights exhibiting tight tolerances and a consistent finish. The silver finish provides good corrosion resistance. They are very light, so stacking does not change the weight of the arrow too much.

The weights are incredibly user-friendly. There’s no real learning curve; simply insert them into the front of the arrow shaft.

Durability & Maintenance

Based on my experience so far, the weights should last for many years with proper care. I anticipate that these will be a part of my archery kit for a very long time. Maintaining the weights is simple.

Wiping them down with a clean cloth after use is all that’s necessary. There is no expected need to repair or replace them.

Accessories and Customization Options

The product itself doesn’t come with any accessories beyond the 12 weights. Altra recommends using Blue Loctite for assembly.

The primary customization option is, of course, the ability to combine different weight values. Compatibility with other brands is limited to Altra arrows.
