Let’s Dive into Allsop 14in Wide Metal Art Jr. Monitor Stand w/ Keyboard Storage Space
The Allsop 14in Wide Metal Art Jr. Monitor Stand w/ Keyboard Storage Space isn’t going to win any beauty contests, but what it does offer is a simple, functional solution to a problem that plagues many of us: neck strain and desk clutter. This unassuming black stand promises to elevate your monitor to a more ergonomic height while providing a dedicated space to tuck your keyboard away when not in use. I was intrigued to see if this $21.99 investment could make a tangible difference in my daily work life.
I’ve been battling increasing neck stiffness from prolonged computer use. I needed a simple, affordable solution to raise my monitor to eye level.
The Allsop stand arrived in a plain cardboard box, and upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by its no-frills design. It’s a matte black, powder-coated steel platform; utilitarian to its core. Compared to some sleeker, more expensive stands with integrated USB hubs and cable management, it’s decidedly basic, but it felt solid and well-constructed.
I considered a few adjustable-height stands, but they were significantly more expensive. I also looked at some wooden risers, but I wasn’t sure about their weight capacity. The Allsop seemed like the best combination of affordability, sturdiness, and simplicity.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. I wasn’t blown away by its aesthetics, but I was hopeful that it would deliver on its promise of improved ergonomics and a cleaner workspace.
Real-World Testing: Putting Allsop 14in Wide Metal Art Jr. Monitor Stand w/ Keyboard Storage Space to the Test
First Use Experience
I immediately set up the Allsop 14in Wide Metal Art Jr. Monitor Stand w/ Keyboard Storage Space on my home office desk, placing my 27-inch monitor on top. The difference in viewing height was immediately noticeable and welcome. After an initial hour of work, the neck strain I usually experience started to dissipate, which was incredibly relieving.
The stand felt incredibly stable, even with my relatively heavy monitor. The powder-coated finish proved resistant to fingerprints and smudges. There were no issues at all during the initial use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of daily use, the Allsop stand continues to perform admirably. There are no signs of wobbling or instability, and the finish still looks like new. The perforated hole pattern does seem to allow for some passive airflow, although it’s hard to quantify how much.
The stand has proven to be very durable, with no scratches or dents despite being bumped and nudged occasionally. Cleaning is as simple as wiping it down with a damp cloth. It far outperforms the makeshift stack of books I was using previously, providing a much more stable and ergonomic solution.
