The Allen Standard Sling with Swivels Padded Black Endura for Rifle Made a Bold First Impression
The Allen Standard Sling with Swivels Padded Black Endura for Rifle promises a no-frills, functional way to carry your rifle, and at a price that’s hard to ignore. Allen Company aims for the budget-conscious shooter with this offering. It boasts 3/8-inch foam padding, durable Endura fabric, heavy web construction, and robust swivels tested to 500 pounds.
I needed a reliable sling for my old Marlin lever-action. The original sling had disintegrated after years of exposure. I wasn’t looking for anything fancy, just something that would comfortably carry the rifle on hunts and at the range.
Upon unboxing, the Allen Standard Sling with Swivels Padded Black Endura for Rifle felt surprisingly substantial. The Endura fabric seemed tough, and the padding offered a comfortable feel against my shoulder. The swivels appeared well-made, instilling confidence in their ability to hold up under pressure.
Compared to pricier slings from brands like Magpul or Blue Force Gear, the Allen offering lacks advanced features like quick-adjust buckles or specialized materials. However, it significantly undercuts them in price. The Allen Standard Sling seemed more rugged than some ultra-lightweight slings I’ve used.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. For the price, it seemed like a solid, functional sling. I was eager to see how it would perform in the field.
