Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves Review

Let’s Talk About Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves

The Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves are a set of lightweight, breathable gloves designed specifically for turkey hunting. Offered by Allen, these gloves aim to provide comfort, concealment, and functionality for turkey hunters during their hunt. Featuring touchscreen fingertips, a spur ruler, and pockets for mouth calls, the Shocker Turkey Gloves attempt to blend essential features with all-day wearability at an affordable price point.

I was in dire need of gloves that offered both concealment and the ability to use my phone for GPS and scouting apps. My old gloves were bulky, making it difficult to operate a touchscreen, and lacked dedicated storage for my turkey calls. The Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves seemed like a promising solution to these issues.

Upon unboxing, I was immediately struck by how lightweight the gloves felt. The material seemed breathable, and the Mossy Oak Obsession camo pattern looked effective. The stitching appeared clean, and the silicone grip on the palm felt secure.

Compared to my old, generic hunting gloves and a pair of higher-end Sitka hunting gloves, the Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves stood out due to their specific focus on turkey hunting features and their lightweight design. While the Sitka gloves offered superior durability, their price was significantly higher. I chose the Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves for their affordability and specialized turkey hunting features.

My first impression was cautiously optimistic. The lightweight feel and features were promising, but I was curious to see how well they would hold up in real-world hunting conditions. I was particularly interested in the functionality of the touchscreen fingertips and the durability of the lightweight material.

Real-World Testing: Putting Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves on an early-season turkey hunt in the Missouri Ozarks. The conditions were cool and damp in the morning, gradually warming up as the day progressed. I primarily used the gloves while setting up decoys, calling, and waiting in ambush positions.

The gloves performed well in the mixed conditions. The breathable fabric prevented my hands from overheating as the day warmed up, and they provided adequate insulation against the morning chill. The touchscreen fingertips allowed me to quickly check my GPS app without removing the gloves.

The ease of use was exceptional. The “one size fits most” design fit my average-sized hands comfortably, and the extended cuff stayed in place without being restrictive. The mouth call pockets were conveniently located and easily accessible.

The only issue I encountered during the first use was a slight lack of dexterity when handling small objects like shotgun shells. The gloves are thin, but I still felt a very slight impediment to fine motor skills.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of use, the Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves have held up surprisingly well. I’ve worn them on numerous turkey hunts, scouting trips, and even while doing yard work.

The gloves show minimal signs of wear and tear. The stitching remains intact, and the camo pattern hasn’t faded noticeably. The silicone grip on the palm is still providing a secure hold.

Maintenance is simple. I typically hand-wash the gloves with mild soap and water and then let them air dry. They dry quickly and retain their shape well.

Compared to my previous experiences with cheaper hunting gloves, the Allen Shocker Turkey Gloves have exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and functionality. They offer a good balance of features, comfort, and affordability, making them a valuable addition to my turkey hunting gear. They do not outperform the more expensive Sitka gloves in durability, but perform well for the cost.
