ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black Review

First Thoughts on the ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black

In the world of firearms, responsible ownership goes beyond the range; it encompasses safe storage and transportation. That’s where the ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black comes into play. This unassuming black nylon case, manufactured by ALLEN, promises to be a simple yet effective solution for securing your full-size handgun and extra magazines. The affordable price of $13.99 immediately piques interest, suggesting a budget-friendly option for gun owners prioritizing basic protection.

I was in the market for a low-profile, discreet way to transport my Glock 17 to and from the range. Hard cases are great for long-term storage and maximum protection, but I needed something less bulky for quick trips. I’d been tossing it in my range bag, which wasn’t ideal for protecting the finish, or preventing accidental bumps.

Unboxing the ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black, my initial thought was one of practical simplicity. The nylon material feels reasonably durable for the price point. It’s lightweight and doesn’t add unnecessary bulk. The stitching appears adequate, though I’ll be keeping a close eye on it with use. Compared to a more rigid case like a Plano or even a higher-end soft case from brands like Savior Equipment, it obviously lacks the same level of impact resistance. However, those options come at a significantly higher cost. Ultimately, I chose this case over those because I wanted something simple, lightweight, and inexpensive for basic transportation. I wanted something to protect the finish of my pistol inside my range bag.

My first impression is cautiously optimistic. I wasn’t expecting a Fort Knox-level safe for $13.99. But, if it serves its purpose of providing a basic layer of protection and preventing accidental scratches, I’ll consider it a win.

Real-World Testing: Putting ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black to the Test

First Use Experience

My first test run with the ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black was a trip to my local indoor shooting range. The ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black easily accommodated my full-size Glock 17 and two spare magazines in the external pouch. The case slipped neatly into my larger range bag, taking up minimal space. While it wasn’t raining, the range environment can get dusty, and the case did a decent job of keeping the grit off my pistol.

The ease of use was immediately apparent; simply unzip, insert the pistol, zip it back up, and you’re good to go. No complicated latches or adjustments required. I did notice that the zipper felt a little flimsy, especially when zipping around the corners, so I was careful to avoid forcing it. The magazine pouch offers a snug fit for standard Glock magazines.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the ALLEN Pistol CASE MAG PCH FULSIZE Black is holding up surprisingly well, considering its price. There are no major signs of wear and tear, though the stitching around the zipper shows some minor fraying. I’ve primarily used it for transporting my pistol to and from the range, but I’ve also taken it on a few camping trips, where it served as a convenient storage solution inside my tent.

Cleaning is simple; a quick wipe down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient. The nylon material seems to resist staining reasonably well. It’s definitely outperformed my expectations. The padding is thin, but it provides enough cushioning to prevent scratches and minor bumps. The case is not waterproof. However, a quick spray with some waterproof fabric treatment could remedy that.
