The ALLEN ENDURA LOCKING PISTOL Black 8″ Made a Bold First Impression
As a seasoned tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen countless pistol cases promising security and convenience. The ALLEN ENDURA LOCKING PISTOL Black 8″ caught my attention due to its locking feature and compact size, all at an incredibly appealing price point. My initial thought was, “Can something this affordable actually offer real protection?”
I needed a small, discreet case for my subcompact pistol when traveling to and from the range. I was specifically looking for something that would fit easily in my range bag and prevent any accidental discharges, as well as offering a modicum of security. Unboxing the case, I immediately noticed the simple, no-frills design. The black soft material felt durable enough for light use, and the integrated locking zipper seemed like a decent deterrent. It wasn’t fancy, but it was functional.
Compared to some of the more robust hard cases I’ve used in the past, the ALLEN ENDURA felt less substantial. However, those cases were significantly larger and more expensive. I also considered a soft case from BLACKHAWK!, but the ALLEN ENDURA’s locking capability swayed my decision. I picked this specific model due to my familiarity with the ALLEN brand and its reputation for affordability.
My first impression was cautiously optimistic. I was excited about the potential for a lightweight, locking solution, but also realistic about the limitations given the low price.
Real-World Testing: Putting ALLEN ENDURA LOCKING PISTOL Black 8″ to the Test
First Use Experience
My initial testing ground for the ALLEN ENDURA LOCKING PISTOL Black 8″ was the local shooting range. I primarily used it to transport my Ruger LC9s to and from the range, keeping it securely stored in my larger range bag. The case performed adequately in this role, providing a padded barrier against bumps and scratches.
I didn’t encounter any severe weather conditions during my testing, but I did use it on a slightly damp morning after some light rain. The exterior material seemed reasonably water-resistant, though I wouldn’t trust it in a downpour. The zipper operated smoothly, even with slightly wet hands. I didn’t need any time to get used to the case; it was a straightforward, intuitive design.
The only minor issue I encountered was the snug fit for my LC9s with an extended magazine. It fit, but it was a tight squeeze.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the ALLEN ENDURA has held up reasonably well. There are no signs of major wear and tear, although I’ve noticed some slight fraying around the zipper. The stitching seems secure, and the locking zipper still functions flawlessly.
The case is easy to maintain. A simple wipe-down with a damp cloth is usually sufficient to remove any dirt or grime. I haven’t had to perform any repairs. Compared to my previous experience with other soft cases, the ALLEN ENDURA performs similarly in terms of basic protection, but the locking feature gives it a slight edge in security. It certainly outperforms a simple cloth bag.
