Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura Review

First Thoughts on the Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura

The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura, from the well-known manufacturer Allen, promises a blend of tactical functionality and practical design. This rifle case is designed to protect your firearm while offering convenient features for range days and transport. The ATACS AU camouflage pattern adds a touch of visual appeal, while the promise of Endura material hints at a durable construction.

As a seasoned outdoor and tactical gear specialist, I’ve seen my share of rifle cases. Many claim to be “tactical,” but few truly deliver on that promise with useful features and durable materials. I needed a reliable case to transport my AR-15 to and from the range, something that could withstand the bumps and scrapes of regular use without sacrificing a professional appearance.

Upon unboxing the Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura, I was immediately drawn to the ATACS AU camouflage. The material felt surprisingly robust for the price point. The stitching appeared clean and even, suggesting a decent level of quality control.

Compared to some of the generic black nylon cases I’ve used in the past, the Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura felt like a step up in terms of both aesthetics and perceived durability. I also considered a Voodoo Tactical case and a NcSTAR option, but chose the Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura because it appeared to offer a better balance of features and price based on initial impressions. I was cautiously optimistic, hoping it would perform as well in the field as it looked out of the box.

Real-World Testing: Putting Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial test took place at my local shooting range. The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura accompanied me on a sunny afternoon, transporting my AR-15 and a few magazines. The rifle securing strap system proved useful, preventing the rifle from shifting inside the case during transport.

The weather was dry and relatively mild. I didn’t experience any extreme conditions during this first outing. The case performed admirably in keeping my rifle protected from dust and minor bumps. There were no immediate issues. I appreciated how easily the case opened and closed, providing quick access to my firearm.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of use, the Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura has become a regular companion on my range trips. It has been subjected to various conditions. I’ve used it in light rain and even carried it through some muddy terrain during a training exercise.

The Endura material has held up well, showing minimal signs of wear and tear. The ATACS AU pattern helps to mask dirt and scuffs. Maintenance has been a breeze, requiring only a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth to remove any accumulated grime. This case outperforms cheaper, flimsier cases I’ve used in the past. These deteriorated rapidly under similar conditions.

Performance & Functionality

The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura performs its primary function – protecting your rifle – quite well. The internal straps keep the rifle from bouncing around, minimizing the risk of scratches or damage. It’s easy to load and unload the rifle, making range trips more efficient.

The case’s biggest strength is its balance of affordability and functionality. A potential weakness is the lack of thick padding. It might not offer the same level of protection as a more expensive hard case. The case meets my expectations for a soft case in this price range.

The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura boasts a straightforward and functional design. The exterior features the A-TACS AU camo pattern, while the interior is lined with a smooth, snag-resistant fabric. The weight is manageable, even with a rifle inside. It is comfortable enough to carry for short distances.

There is virtually no learning curve. The case opens and closes easily. The firearm securing straps are simple to adjust.

Durability & Maintenance

The Endura fabric appears to be reasonably durable. The stitching is well-executed. The case should last for several years with proper care.

Cleaning is straightforward. Just a damp cloth is sufficient for removing dirt and grime.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura includes the internal firearm securing straps as its main accessory. There are no external pockets or MOLLE webbing for attaching additional pouches. It’s a relatively simple design in that regard.

While the case itself doesn’t offer extensive customization, it’s compatible with standard rifle slings. These can be used to carry the case more comfortably.

Who Should Buy Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura?

The Allen Duty Tactical Rifle Case 38″ ATACS AU Endura is perfect for recreational shooters. It’s suitable for anyone looking for an affordable and functional way to transport their rifle to the range. It’s also a good option for those who prioritize a low-profile and lightweight case.

This product should be skipped by individuals who require maximum protection for their firearms. Someone who needs heavy-duty padding for frequent airline travel or harsh environmental conditions should look elsewhere. A hard case would be more appropriate.
