First Impressions of Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN promise a blend of consistency and performance for reloaders. Manufactured by Accura Bullets, these round nose projectiles are designed for smooth feeding and reliable accuracy in 9mm handguns. They aim to offer a premium option without the premium price tag.

I reload ammunition for a variety of reasons. Primarily, I seek greater control over the performance of my rounds and cost savings compared to factory ammunition. I was drawn to the Accura Bullets because of their advertised consistency and the use of certified materials, hoping for tight groupings and clean cycling.

The bullets arrived securely packaged. My initial inspection revealed a uniform shape and a consistent copper plating, something that is key for reliable feeding. Compared to some bulk, unbranded bullets I’ve used in the past, these visually stood out with a better finish. These Premium Powerbond Bullets looked ready to deliver.

I was previously considering some coated lead bullets, but I decided against them due to concerns about leading in my polygonal rifled Glock barrel. Ultimately, the promise of consistent performance and the controlled manufacturing process of Accura Bullets swayed me. I was excited to see if these could become my new go-to for 9mm reloading.

Real-World Testing: Putting Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN to the Test

First Use Experience

I tested the Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN at my local outdoor shooting range. The weather was typical for late spring: slightly breezy with temperatures in the mid-60s. I loaded them using my standard 9mm load data with a moderate charge of powder suitable for 115-grain bullets.

The first few magazines cycled flawlessly through my Glock 19. The round nose profile fed smoothly. I experienced no issues with failure to feed or eject, which is always a good sign. The felt recoil was manageable and consistent with other 115-grain loads I’ve used.

After about 50 rounds, I noticed a slight increase in copper fouling in my barrel. It wasn’t excessive, but it was something I needed to monitor more closely compared to factory-loaded ammunition. I also noticed a few rounds had slightly flattened primers, so I adjusted my powder charge down slightly to find a sweet spot.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several hundred rounds, the Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN have proven to be reasonably reliable. The copper plating has held up well, with minimal jacket separation noted during my tests.

I have observed that the copper fouling is slightly more pronounced than with some more expensive jacketed bullets. However, with regular cleaning, this hasn’t been a significant issue. I would suggest running a bore snake through your barrel after every 100 rounds or so, especially during extended range sessions.

Compared to my previous experience with some bulk FMJ bullets, these Accura Bullets offer a noticeable improvement in consistency and accuracy. They have exceeded my expectations for a mid-range bullet, providing reliable performance at a reasonable cost.

Breaking Down the Features of Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN

Specifications

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN offer a few key features for reloaders. They are a .356 caliber, 115-grain, round nose (RN) bullet. This is a common and versatile configuration for 9mm handguns.

The bullet is constructed with a lead core and a copper jacket. The copper jacket is designed to provide smooth feeding and minimize leading in the barrel. The round nose profile is known for its reliable feeding characteristics, especially in pistols with tighter tolerances.

Performance & Functionality

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN perform admirably in terms of accuracy and reliability. I was able to consistently achieve groupings of around 2-3 inches at 25 yards with my Glock 19. This is more than acceptable for most practical shooting scenarios.

The main strength is their consistent feeding and acceptable accuracy. The copper plating process seems to be well-executed. However, the slightly increased fouling compared to premium brands is a minor weakness.

They generally meet my expectations for a bullet in this price range. It’s a good balance of cost and performance.

Design & Ergonomics

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN are designed with a classic round nose profile. The build quality appears to be solid. The weight is consistent from bullet to bullet.

The round nose design ensures smooth feeding into the chamber. This eliminates a common issue with some more aggressively shaped hollow-point or flat-nose bullets. The bullets themselves are easy to handle and load into a reloading press. There is no significant learning curve associated with their use.

Durability & Maintenance

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN should last indefinitely if stored properly. The main consideration is preventing oxidation of the copper jacket.

Maintaining your firearm after using these bullets involves regular cleaning to remove copper fouling. This is a standard practice for any firearm, regardless of the ammunition used. A good bore solvent and a quality cleaning rod are essential.

Accessories and Customization Options

The Accura Bullets Premium Powerbond Bullets 9mm .356in 115 gr RN, being bullets themselves, do not come with accessories. However, they are compatible with a wide range of reloading equipment and components.

You can tailor your load by selecting different powders, primers, and case types. The bullet’s .356 diameter means it will fit in any standard 9mm Luger casing. Many reloaders find that experimenting with different load combinations can significantly improve accuracy.
