First Thoughts on the CMMG Resolute 22 ARC 16.10″ Upper Receiver w/ 15″ M-LOK Handguard
The CMMG Resolute 22 ARC 16.10″ Upper Receiver w/ 15″ M-LOK Handguard promises a blend of accuracy, modularity, and the fun of the 22 ARC cartridge in a modern AR platform. CMMG is a well-respected name in AR-pattern firearms, and the Resolute line is known for its quality and performance. This upper receiver piqued my interest because I’ve been looking for a dedicated rimfire AR upper that could offer reliable training without breaking the bank on centerfire ammo.
I had a desire to introduce my kids to the AR platform and thought the 22 ARC would be the perfect caliber. Furthermore, I have been in the market to find an accurate upper that I could consistently use for varmint hunting.
Upon unboxing, the CMMG Resolute 22 ARC feels solid and well-built. The Tungsten Gray Cerakote finish is smooth and even, providing a professional and durable appearance. The 15″ M-LOK handguard offers ample space for accessories, and the overall design feels modern and ergonomic.
I considered other 22LR AR uppers from companies like Brownells and Palmetto State Armory. I ultimately chose the CMMG due to their reputation for reliable rimfire conversions and dedicated 22LR/22ARC systems. The other options I researched did not have the same reputation for accuracy and reliability.
My initial excitement was high. I expected a high-quality, accurate, and reliable 22 ARC upper that would be a joy to shoot. I was not disappointed.
Real-World Testing: Putting CMMG Resolute 22 ARC 16.10″ Upper Receiver w/ 15″ M-LOK Handguard to the Test
First Use Experience
My first range trip with the CMMG Resolute 22 ARC was at an outdoor range on a clear, sunny day. I mounted it on a standard AR-15 lower receiver with a mil-spec trigger. I tested various 22 ARC ammunition types, including CCI Mini-Mags and Federal Automatch.
The upper cycled reliably with the CCI Mini-Mags right out of the box. The Federal Automatch required a short break-in period of about 50 rounds before it cycled reliably. Accuracy was impressive, with tight groupings at 50 yards.
The only initial issue was a failure to extract on a few rounds with the Federal Automatch before break-in. The issue was easily solved after the first 50 rounds.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several months of regular use, the CMMG Resolute 22 ARC has proven to be incredibly reliable and durable. I’ve put several hundred rounds through it, and it continues to function flawlessly. I’ve used it in various conditions, including wet and dusty environments, without any malfunctions.
The Cerakote finish has held up remarkably well, with no signs of wear or scratches. Cleaning is straightforward, with easy access to the bolt and barrel. I simply use a standard AR-15 cleaning kit with a bore snake and some CLP.
Compared to my previous experience with cheaper 22LR conversion kits, the CMMG Resolute 22 ARC is a significant upgrade. Its dedicated design and high-quality components result in superior accuracy and reliability. It outperforms the conversion kits I had previously used in every measurable way.
