First Impressions of Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit

The Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit promises to be a comprehensive solution for enhancing your AR-15. This kit, from the reputable Black Rain Ordnance, includes furniture upgrades, performance enhancements, and aesthetic touches. It caught my eye as a potential all-in-one upgrade solution.

I’ve always believed that a rifle is only as good as its weakest link, and sometimes, those links are the factory parts. I was looking for a way to enhance the ergonomics, performance, and overall aesthetics of my AR-15 without piecing together individual components from different manufacturers. The promise of a matched kit from Black Rain Ordnance was certainly appealing.

Upon opening the package, I was immediately struck by the completeness of the Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit. The Magpul furniture felt robust, and the compensator had an aggressive, purposeful look. The laser engraving, while somewhat subjective in terms of taste, seemed well-executed.

I considered individual parts from Magpul and other manufacturers, but the Black Rain Ordnance kit offered a seemingly convenient and cost-effective package. The adjustable gas block was a significant factor in my decision, as it promised better recoil management and smoother cycling. This seemed like a complete package designed to enhance my AR’s performance.

My initial impression was one of cautious optimism. The components appeared well-made, but the true test would be in the field. I was excited to see if this kit could truly elevate my AR-15’s performance and aesthetics.

Real-World Testing: Putting Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit to the Test

First Use Experience

My first outing with the Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit was at my local shooting range. I wanted to test the compensator’s effectiveness and the adjustability of the gas block.

The weather was mild, with a slight breeze. I immediately noticed the improved grip and comfort provided by the Magpul MOE furniture. The compensator undeniably reduced muzzle climb, making follow-up shots quicker and more controlled.

Adjusting the gas block took some experimentation. Initially, the rifle felt over-gassed, but after some fine-tuning, I achieved a smoother, more consistent cycling. I did have to use different ammunition types to find the optimal setting.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several months of regular use, the Black Rain Ordnance Advanced Upgrade AR-15 Kit has held up remarkably well. There are no signs of significant wear and tear on the Magpul furniture, even after some rough handling.

The compensator still performs admirably, and the gas block continues to function flawlessly after initial adjustments. Cleaning the compensator requires a bit of extra effort, but it’s manageable with the right solvents and brushes. The laser engraving has proven surprisingly durable as well.

Compared to my previous experience with a standard A2 flash hider and basic polymer furniture, the Black Rain Ordnance kit offers a significant improvement in both performance and comfort. The adjustability of the gas block sets it apart and allows fine-tuning for different ammunition types. The enhanced control and reduced recoil make shooting more enjoyable and accurate.
