First Impressions of Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes
As an avid walleye angler, I’m always on the hunt for an edge. After years of trolling various presentations, I’ve learned that subtle tweaks can make all the difference between a skunked trip and a cooler full of fish. The Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes caught my eye because of its promise of premium components and glow-in-the-dark UV enhancement, features I believe can be deadly, especially in low-light conditions or stained water.
My usual go-to harnesses are custom-tied, but the time investment can be significant. I was looking for a reliable, pre-tied option that I could trust to hold up under pressure and consistently attract strikes. Vexan, a name I recognize for their ice-fishing equipment, offered a convenient solution at an attractive price point.
Upon receiving the Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes, my initial impression was positive. The harnesses were neatly packaged, and the components appeared to be of decent quality. The Fire Ant color combination – a blend of red, orange, and black – looked promising. The glow paint and UV beads offered a vibrant appearance. Comparing them to my homemade rigs and some generic harnesses from other brands, these Vexan harnesses seemed to strike a good balance between durability and fish-attracting features. I was eager to put them to the test.
My excitement outweighed any immediate disappointment. These looked like they could be a winner!
Real-World Testing: Putting Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes to the Test
First Use Experience
My first outing with the Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes was on Lake Erie, known for its walleye but also its challenging conditions. We were trolling in moderately stained water, about 25 feet deep, with a slight chop. I ran the harnesses behind a one-ounce inline weight, about 30 feet back.
The harnesses performed admirably right out of the gate. Within the first hour, we boated three walleye, all respectable eaters. The action seemed consistent, and the glow-in-the-dark beads and paint undoubtedly helped attract the fish in the murky depths. There were no immediate issues with the hooks or the line.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes have proven to be surprisingly durable for their price point. While I’ve had to retie a couple after some particularly aggressive strikes and snags, the blades have held up well, maintaining their thump and vibration.
I have noticed some minor fading of the glow paint, but it still retains a noticeable luminescence after being charged with a UV light. Cleaning is simple – a quick rinse with fresh water after each trip keeps them in good condition. Compared to some of the cheaper harnesses I’ve used in the past, these Vexan rigs have significantly outperformed them in terms of longevity and fish-catching ability.

Performance & Functionality
The Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes performs its job admirably. They consistently attract walleye, especially in conditions where visibility is limited.
A notable strength is the premium #4 Colorado blade, which spins readily even at slow trolling speeds. A minor weakness is the potential for the glow paint to fade over time, although it remains effective with UV charging. Overall, the harnesses meet my expectations for a pre-tied crawler harness in this price range.
Design & Ergonomics
The build quality is adequate, with decent materials used throughout. The red hooks are sharp and strong, and the mono leader is supple enough to allow for natural bait presentation.

Durability & Maintenance
With proper care, the Vexan Fire Ant Three 2-Packs Glow Walleye Crawler Harnes should last for several fishing seasons. The blades are resistant to corrosion, and the hooks are durable enough to withstand repeated use.
