Let’s Talk About 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves
The 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves promise a blend of tactile sensitivity and robust protection at an incredibly accessible price point. 5IVE STAR GEAR aims to deliver a glove that doesn’t sacrifice dexterity for durability, catering to a wide range of outdoor and tactical needs. These gloves boast a polyester shell, suede leather palm, touchscreen compatibility, and a hook and loop closure.
My search for the perfect glove has been a long one. I needed a glove that allowed me to manipulate small objects while offering reasonable protection against the elements and minor abrasions. The 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves seemed to strike the right balance between these competing demands, making them an attractive option for my needs.
Upon unboxing, my initial impression was positive, considering the price. The gloves felt lightweight, and the suede leather palm seemed supple enough to allow for good dexterity. However, the polyester shell felt a bit thin, raising concerns about long-term durability.
Compared to my Mechanix Wear Original gloves and my thicker leather work gloves, the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves occupy a unique space. The Mechanix gloves excel in pure dexterity but lack substantial protection, while the leather gloves offer excellent durability but significantly reduce tactile sensitivity. I chose the 5IVE STAR GEAR gloves hoping for a middle ground, offering both reasonable protection and acceptable dexterity.
My first impression was one of cautious optimism. The gloves felt comfortable enough, and the touchscreen compatibility was a welcome feature. I was eager to put them to the test in real-world scenarios to see if they lived up to their “agility” and “high dexterity” claims.
Real-World Testing: Putting 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves to the Test
First Use Experience
My first test of the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves was at the shooting range. I needed to load magazines, manipulate firearm controls, and perform minor adjustments to my gear. The gloves were tested in relatively mild weather conditions, around 65 degrees Fahrenheit with a slight breeze.
The Agility High Dexterity Gloves performed adequately, allowing me to load magazines without too much fumbling. However, I noticed that manipulating smaller firearm controls, such as the safety selector, was slightly more challenging than with bare hands. The vented palm seemed to offer a degree of breathability, but my hands did sweat slightly during extended use.
After the first use, I didn’t encounter any significant issues. The gloves showed no immediate signs of wear and tear. I was cautiously optimistic about their potential.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of use in various environments, including hiking trails and a weekend camping trip, the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves revealed both strengths and weaknesses. The gloves were used for tasks ranging from setting up camp and handling firewood to navigating with a map and compass. These involved all weather conditions, from sunny days to light rain.
Durability is definitely a concern after extended use. The polyester shell shows signs of wear, particularly around the fingertips. The suede leather palm is holding up relatively well, but I anticipate it will eventually wear through with continued use.
Cleaning the gloves is relatively straightforward. A quick hand wash with mild soap and air drying is sufficient. However, the gloves do take a while to dry completely.
Compared to my experiences with other tactical gloves, the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves fall short in terms of durability but excel in terms of price and initial dexterity. My heavier-duty gloves offer superior protection but sacrifice dexterity, while the 5IVE STAR GEAR gloves prioritize tactile sensitivity, albeit at the expense of long-term durability.

Performance & Functionality
The primary function of the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves is to provide hand protection while maintaining a high degree of dexterity. The gloves perform adequately in this regard, allowing for the manipulation of small objects and firearm controls. However, the thin polyester shell offers limited protection against sharp objects and abrasive surfaces.
The strength of these gloves lies in their dexterity and touchscreen compatibility. The weakness is their questionable long-term durability. While they meet the basic expectation of providing hand protection, they don’t exceed expectations in terms of robustness or weather resistance.

The gloves are reasonably user-friendly, with no significant learning curve. The hook and loop closure allows for a snug fit.
Durability & Maintenance
The long-term durability of the 5IVE STAR GEAR Agility High Dexterity Gloves is a concern. The thin polyester shell is prone to wear and tear, especially with heavy use. The suede leather palm is more durable but will eventually wear through with prolonged use.
