First Thoughts on the 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca
The 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca immediately caught my eye with its promise of robust protection for scoped rifles. As someone who’s lugged firearms through dense brush, across rocky terrain, and in less-than-ideal weather for over a decade, I understand the critical need for a reliable case. The price point of $239.49 for a set of five single scope cases seemed like a potentially incredible value if the quality held up to scrutiny.
My current storage situation involves a mishmash of soft cases and older hard cases that have seen better days; none of them are quite right for scoped rifles. This Emperor case set offered the prospect of organized, uniform, and secure transport and storage. Unboxing each case revealed a simple, no-frills design with a focus on functionality. The hard plastic shell felt solid, and the egg-crate foam insert appeared adequate for cushioning.
Compared to standalone hard cases from brands like Pelican or Plano, this set offered a quantity advantage, trading some potential premium features for cost-effectiveness. My initial impression was cautiously optimistic: the cases seemed sturdy enough for regular use, but the real test would be how they performed in the field and how well they protected the rifles inside. I was hoping for a practical, reliable solution and so far I haven’t been disappointed.
Real-World Testing: Putting 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca to the Test
First Use Experience
My first real test came during a recent trip to the shooting range and a subsequent weekend hunting excursion. I used two of the cases to transport a .308 bolt-action rifle with a 50mm objective scope and a 12-gauge shotgun. The cases fit snugly in the back of my truck without taking up excessive space. The low-profile handle made carrying them comfortable, even when fully loaded.
The shooting range was relatively dry, but the hunting trip involved some light rain. The Emperor cases shrugged off the moisture without any signs of water intrusion, thanks to the scratch and water-resistant plastic. The sliding lock system was simple to operate, even with gloves on. There was no initial learning curve – the cases are straightforward and intuitive to use.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of regular use, the 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca continues to perform well. The exterior of the cases shows minimal wear and tear, with only a few superficial scratches. The molded feet are a nice touch. They allow the case to stand upright, providing quick access.
The foam inserts have retained their shape and cushioning ability. I’ve made sure to wipe down the exterior after each use to remove any dirt or grime. This seems to be sufficient for maintaining their appearance and functionality. While these cases don’t offer the same level of heavy-duty protection as some higher-end options, they provide a significant upgrade over soft cases. For general transport and storage, they have exceeded my expectations.
Breaking Down the Features of 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca
Specifications
- Exterior Dimensions: 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″. This size is compact enough for easy storage but large enough to accommodate most standard scoped rifles.
- Construction: Heavy-duty polymer. The polymer construction offers a balance of durability and lightweight portability.
- Foam: Dual layers of soft egg crate foam. This foam effectively cushions the rifle and scope, minimizing movement during transport.
- Locking System: Sliding lock system with (4) snap-tight lock hasps. While not Fort Knox, the system provides sufficient security to deter casual tampering.
- Capacity: Designed to fit (1) scoped rifle or shotgun. This single-gun capacity helps prevent dings and scratches from multiple firearms rubbing together.
Performance & Functionality
The 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca performs its primary function of protecting firearms admirably. The rigid shell resists impacts, and the foam prevents excessive movement. The water-resistant properties are a welcome feature for outdoor use.
The sliding lock system, while basic, is functional and easy to operate. However, I do wish it had integrated padlock holes for added security. While the cases are not impenetrable, they offer a solid level of protection for everyday use.
Design & Ergonomics
The design is simple and utilitarian. The hard plastic is tough, and the molded feet are a practical addition. The low-profile handle makes carrying the cases comfortable.
There’s not a lot of extra space inside, which helps keep the rifle from shifting around. The case does what it is supposed to without being complicated to operate.
Durability & Maintenance
The Emperor cases appear to be built to last. The heavy-duty polymer is resistant to cracking and scratching. Maintenance is minimal – simply wiping down the exterior is sufficient.
I anticipate these cases will provide years of reliable service with proper care. The foam should last a good amount of time before needing replacement.
Accessories and Customization Options
The 5 PCS SET | Emperor Single Scope Hard Plastic Rifle Case with Foam | 31.25″ x 10″ x 3″ Scratch and Water Resistant Storage Ca does not come with any additional accessories beyond the foam inserts. However, the interior space can be customized with aftermarket foam inserts or dividers. Standard padlocks can be used with the hasps for increased security, although there are no dedicated padlock holes.
I would recommend adding some custom-cut foam for specific firearm models for a tighter, more secure fit. Also, adding a desiccant pack inside each case is never a bad idea to prevent moisture buildup, especially in humid environments.
