First Impressions of .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target
The .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target promises to be a reliable, regulation-sized target for various shooting disciplines. As someone deeply involved in tactical training and precision shooting, I’m always on the lookout for quality targets that can withstand rigorous use and provide consistent feedback. This particular target, with its official 80cm size and full-color 10-ring design, piqued my interest because of its potential versatility for archery, rifle, pistol, and even air gun practice.
My search for a consistently reliable and cost-effective target led me to the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target. Previously, I had been using a mix of homemade and lower-quality commercial targets, experiencing issues with inconsistent sizing and tearing. The promise of an official size and durable paper made this option incredibly appealing.
Upon receiving the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target, my initial thought was, “finally, a target that looks professionally made!” The paper felt sturdy and the printing was crisp and vibrant. It’s clear that .30-06 Outdoors invested in the printing quality, providing clear demarcation between the rings.
Compared to some cheaper targets I’ve used, the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target immediately stood out in terms of paper quality and clarity of the target rings. I considered other options, like self-healing targets, but those were significantly more expensive and not ideal for higher-volume practice. Ultimately, the combination of regulation size, perceived durability, and reasonable price made this my top pick.
Initially, I was optimistic, but also slightly skeptical. I hoped the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target would live up to its promise of being a versatile and durable option. Only real-world testing would reveal if it could truly withstand the demands of diverse shooting practices.
Real-World Testing: Putting .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target to the Test
First Use Experience
My first experience with the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target was at my local shooting range, specifically testing with my AR-15 at 50 meters. The weather was mild, with a slight breeze, providing fairly standard outdoor shooting conditions. Setting up the target was straightforward.
The target provided immediate visual feedback with each shot, the bright rings making it easy to score hits even at a distance. During the session, I also tested with my 9mm pistol at closer ranges (25 meters), and the target performed equally well. There were no initial issues or unexpected surprises.
Extended Use & Reliability
After several weeks of consistent use, the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target has held up surprisingly well, considering it is paper. I primarily used them for rifle and pistol practice sessions, exposing them to varying weather conditions, including some light rain. The paper did show signs of wear after repeated use, especially around the impact zones, but the overall integrity of the target remained intact.
The targets held up surprisingly well, showing only typical wear and tear from bullet impacts. Cleaning up was easy enough, simply replacing the targets as needed. Compared to my previous experiences with flimsier targets, the .30-06 Outdoors FITA 50m Target exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and reliability.
