Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan – – 1 out of 5 models Review

Let’s Dive into Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan – – 1 out of 5 models

The Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan – – 1 out of 5 models represents a modern take on a classic carry method. This system, manufactured by Galco, offers a unique blend of concealment, comfort, and accessibility for a wide range of firearms. The tan color provides a neutral and professional look. The VHS 4.0 boasts redesigned harness straps, a secure key-hole fastener system, and an innovative tie-down system.

Years ago, I was working executive protection and needed a deep concealment option that wouldn’t print under a suit coat while still allowing me to draw my weapon quickly. I tried several IWB (Inside the Waistband) and OWB (Outside the Waistband) setups, but none provided the level of comfort and concealment I needed for all-day wear. That need led me to explore vertical holster systems, and specifically, the Galco VHS line.

Upon receiving the Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan, the first thing I noticed was the quality of the leather. The steerhide felt thick and durable, yet supple enough to conform to my body over time. The stitching was clean and precise, a testament to Galco’s commitment to craftsmanship. The weight felt substantial, indicating a robust build, but not so heavy as to be unwieldy.

I considered other shoulder holster systems from DeSantis and Gould & Goodrich. Ultimately, I chose the Galco VHS 4.0 because of Galco’s reputation for quality and the VHS system’s proven track record with military and law enforcement. The improvements made in the 4.0 version, especially the harness redesign and key-hole fastener, sealed the deal.

I was initially excited to try the Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan. I had high hopes for its comfort and concealment capabilities. I was cautiously optimistic, wondering if it would truly live up to the hype of its predecessors.

Real-World Testing: Putting Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan – – 1 out of 5 models to the Test

First Use Experience

My initial testing ground for the Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan was at an outdoor shooting range, simulating a tactical training environment. I wore the holster system under a light jacket during drills that involved drawing and firing from various positions, including kneeling and prone. The weather was mild and dry.

The Galco VHS 4.0 performed admirably. Drawing my Glock 19 felt natural and fluid after only a few practice repetitions. The holster securely retained the firearm while allowing for a quick and clean draw stroke. The harness distributed the weight evenly, preventing any uncomfortable pressure points, even during extended periods of wear. There were no immediate issues.

The only surprise was how much more aware I became of my movements. It took some getting used to not bumping the grip against door frames or when reaching for objects.

Extended Use & Reliability

After several weeks of consistent use, including daily wear during my commute and occasional training sessions, the Galco Vertical Holster System Vhs 4.0, Tan continues to impress. The leather has softened slightly, molding to my body for an even more comfortable fit. There are no signs of significant wear and tear.

The stitching remains intact, and the leather shows no signs of cracking or stretching. Regular cleaning with a leather conditioner keeps the system looking and feeling like new. The Galco VHS 4.0 far exceeds the comfort and concealability of other shoulder holsters I’ve used in the past.

It is also more practical and easier to adjust than most other vertical carry systems I’ve tried.
